Not really for this thread I suppose but is there evidence that an antibody treatment works?

I have been following the stories on plasma treatments since a friend of a friend underwent the procedure. It seems that the general consensus is that the treatment is safe and might be beneficial.

I wonder if Trump has talked any researchers into slipping him a vaccination before it's ready? I can see him doing that, offering favorable government contracts or something if they can slip him a dose in secret.

If there is evidence of a serum antibody treatment that works and a vaccination that has been tested enough to give it to a 73 year old fat man, could you please link it or post the evidence over in the science thread? I might be able to afford that, and I’m interested in knowing more.

Yes, unfortunately that's correct. If there's a surge of cases in OK, the level of lying about it will be stupendous.

Yes, the virus is zoonotic so the rally attendees will end up spreading it to people.

What it says is there are indicators the treatment is effective. But like any evidence based medicine standards, they are taking a systematic approach and that data collection is not at the point yet they are ready to present final positive research results.

“Our efforts to understand convalescent plasma continue,” says Michael Joyner, M.D., principal investigator of the EAP at Mayo Clinic and lead author of the article. “We’re optimistic but must remain objective as we assess increasing amounts of data.”

What I cringe at is the difference between Tulsa health officials -- and a lot of them are Republicans -- and the trump crew. Look at the way they respond to the fear the rally may be dangerous:

"Let me be clear: Anyone planning to attend a large-scale gathering will face an increased risk at being infected with COVID-19," Tulsa Health Department Director Bruce Dart said during a press conference. "We want to keep people safe. ... If you are part of a vulnerable population, please stay at home." "I am not positive everything is safe. I'm not a public health professional," added Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum, a Republican. The Hill link

So Tulsa officials are concerned with people's health and issuing warnings. The trump administration? About what you'd expect.

White House officials have dismissed concerns over attendees’ health, and those who sign up for the rally must sign a disclaimer agreeing not to sue the Trump campaign or the host venue if they contract the coronavirus from the rally.

While trump administration officials "dismissed concerns" they also decided to require that attendees sign a waiver, you know 'just in case' they get sick they don't get any funny ideas about suing trump. Even by donald trump's standards, that is really shameful.

You can have gold if you find the answers to 2 questions I've been looking for all morning:

When/where were they possibly exposed? That includes are they DC staff or OK staff? Did they all get infected at the same time? Or does it suggest there's something festering besides Trump?

And who might they have exposed while they set things up? That includes the timing. We know they must have had virus in their nasopharynx. And 6 suggests we aren't looking at false positives. Who is left behind to infect the next batch?
