Governor Abbott of Texas just issued a order forbidding cities and cunites from making the wearing of masks mandatory.
GOd, Texas is headed for disaster full speed and all the buy in charge cares about it kissing the butt of the President.

I'm glad we have Gretchen Whitmer.

125 cases yesterday. The most we ever had was around 1500.

I can imagine a governor refusing to order face masks. That's stupid, but I get it. I can't even wrap my head around an order that prohibits local governments from doing it. It just makes no sense. Beyond, "makes no sense", it's downright weird.

I initially misread the highlighted as "GOP". It kinda works.

That’s not the word I misinterpreted in that post. Seriously get a spell check. Doesn’t his browser make a squiggly line under “cunites?” My mind turned that into a plural diminutive c-word.

I've already suggested that multiple times. Edit, spell-check, or just ******* proofread. I find about 50% of those posts incomprehensible or just too much god damn work to try to figure out what he meant to type, but there are several of those types of errors in every single one.

Yes, and doing so is still mandatory in MA.
That's good. As far as I know they're not mandatory here, and some stores are more lax about it than others. A lot of stores are limiting the number of people inside and people are pretty good about social distancing. But I've seen lots of people without masks or wearing them improperly.

ETA: If your point is that such a "contact" wouldn't be worth tracing anyhow, then fair enough. But I'm talking about more general principles here. In theory I could have gone to a completely legal private gathering of up to ten people that day.
My current thinking is if you're wearing even a simple cloth mask over your nose and mouth, the chances you'll infect others is greatly reduced. Add social distancing and the risk is reduced even more.

Overall it's probably our best long-term strategy until a vaccine is available. Unfortunately that's probably not going to happen until some time in 2023.

It really is extraordinary. In states or countries where the number of cases are rising, it's down to the number of tests. There are other states or countries where the same number of tests are being carried out and the number of cases are falling. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

It sucks for all the people the attendees at the Tulsa rally will infect. On the bright side, Trump is attending a super spreader event.

I want to make people who trot out that excuse go to the front of the classroom and write "you can't explain a variable with a constant" 100 times.

GOP GOvernor Abbott of Texas just issued an executive order forbidding city and county governments from making masks mandatory.
Texas is Scrrwed thanks to Abbott's blind determination to follow the Trump "Corona Vrrus is over" policy.
Now do you understnnd why I have lost all respect for the GOP over the past four years?
The GOP I once could support is dead.

Masks aren't mandatory in Japan, yet most people wear them.

Nearly 6000 new cases in Florida between yesterday and today, and today's not over. And Trump has moved his convention there because the NC governor wanted people to practice safe conventioning.

Don't look behind the curtain, of course.

If they didn't test they wouldn't have any cases.
Obviously.

That 1500 was undercounted. Death rates suggest the real number for Michigan was in the 15 000 to 20 000 new cases per day range. Texas isn’t that bad yet, but it won’t be much longer the way they are going.

Do you suppose he's going to try to create some negative air flow away from himself?

He's come close to being infected twice now. Third time's the charm so they say. And his placebo chloroquine doesn't work. Superstition vs placebo..hmmmmm.

I'll take, What is the science of air flow for $1,000 Alex. :)

Trump doing Rallies is very risky IMO:

there is the obvious risk of superspreaders at these events, but Trump constitution is an even bigger gamble.
We've seen that he isn't in great shape, might have taken an unwise medication (HCQ), usually amps himself up on Adderall (and else) before such an event.
It is quite possible that he will suffer some medical emergency while preaching to his congregation.
