While your statement has the appearance of a general insight into an undesirable facet of human nature, it is instead an exposure of some weird tic you have.

Seriously, I have never once in my life looked at a black person and just reflexively thought of the n-word. The very notion is completely bizarre to me.

Likewise.

I used the word once when I was about 12... that got me confined to my bedroom for the weekend.

Now I use the word rarely, and exclusively to bait racists; never as a pejorative.

The "heat of the moment" and "one-off" arguments are looking shakier:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52927018

"Special Agent Richard Dial of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told the court that co-defendant William Bryan heard Travis McMichael use the slur after shooting Mr Arbery.

"Mr Bryan said that after the shooting took place before police arrival, while Mr Arbery was on the ground, that he heard Travis McMichael make the statement," Agent Dial said.

Agent Dial said Mr McMichael had used the same slur many times on social media.

Investigators had also found racially derogatory texts on Mr Bryan's phone, he said."

Yep, they were racist.

That's what I suspected when they were executing that search warrant after the arrest. They already had all the material evidence from the murder, so it seemed likely they were seizing electronic devices for proof of racist motives.

Stick a fork in this thing, it's done:

MORE: GBI Special Agent says Travis McMichael used N-word “several times” on social media. In one instance, he says, Travis McMichael responded to unknown Instagram post saying it would have been better "if they had blown that ******* n*****s head off.”

Twitter thread has more examples from the preliminary hearing. Sounds like all three murderers and well and truly screwed.

Numerous examples of the McMichaels being openly racist.

Also, chase lasted 7 minutes, not 4. GBI conclusion was that Arbery chose to fight after it became clear he could not evade and that Arbery had the lawful self-defense claim.

Roddie's defense attorney claiming that "racial slurs are common in the South". I have a feeling Roddie's past history is not going to be helpful here...

Some testimony here (video)

2 things of note that haven't already been mentioned:

It seems that Travis' statements have confirmed to the GBI's satisfaction that he was deliberately pointing his shotgun at Arbrey, which may help the "brandishing" aspect of the murder charge.

And, while the audio cuts out, in the context of providing examples of Travis using the n-word, the GBI agent says that Travis, who it seems worked taking control of boats that needed searching, etc. had said "I love my job because [...]". Which may be an indicator that he was particularly inclined towards aggression towards black people.

Hadn't seen it reported that our shooter was a former coast guard member. Technically military, but much of their role is essentially law enforcement.

Only makes it worse that we had two people with LE training and still couldn't apprehend an unarmed man alive. Travis chose lethal violence when his training likely meant he had many other options.

If this wasn't such a terrible crime it would be amusing when we hear how saying racists things and acting like a racist doesn't mean we can conclude he is a racist or him being a racist means his murdering a black man had anything at all to do with racism.

I'm not a lawyer, but I assume it's not good when you client accused of a racially motivated murder has instagram chats where he advocated extrajudicial killings while using a racial slur.

But that's just my amateur opinion.

Either there are at least a couple typos in there, or...or I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

That white guys don't get to use that word. No matter where they work, or who tells them that it's OK. It's never OK. It wasn't OK when you grew up, and it's not OK now.

For an American East Coast construction site, hell ya mine is diverse. Been to the States recently to opine on the bichromatic rainbow of commonly spoken languages?

You were opinioning that your workplace was like the UN, if you meant 'compared to other construction sites in the American East Coast' maybe you should have said so rather than relying on our psychic powers? And have you been to the UN recently to opine on whether the bichromatic rainbow of spoken languages there is actually similar to your construction site?

I'm not sure I'm really following the logic here. It seems like a couple of you are claiming that because your larger workforces are more diverse than Thermal's... his workforce isn't diverse? or is this just an odd kind of one-upsmanship?

Because maybe when people think something is noteworthy enough to comment on (with hyperbole 'it's like the UN'), and to people from elsewhere it's really not unusual, that in itself tells you something.

PJ Denyer. Please consider the context:

A poster commented that they heard the n word bantered around in the all-white place that they worked, and presumed the same lily white uniformity applied to me and my workplace.

I responded that my crew has been jokingly referred to as UN Const, because of its notable diversity. That descriptor had always tickled my funny bone. We are not exactly a pale bunch.

Look at your responses. You are trying to read way, way to much into what was being said. Maybe take a moment to reflect on why you were twisting it around and making such a strange issue out of it.

What do you think was 'telling you something'? Just for fun, drop your preconceptions and answer that, please.

The most enjoyable part of being a member of ISF is watching the "OMG-America-is-so-racist" social justice mob fall for stories like this without being the least bit skeptical before they work themselves into a frenzy and step directly on the rake laid out in front of them and get whacked right in the face.

Never gets old.

I just wanted to remind everyone, now the whole thing is looking like a straight up lynching by racist scum, of post #4 in the thread. So wrong, so soon.

Dave

Anyone else notice how quiet the forum's racists have become in the last couple of days since the evidence about Travis' social media and what he has been saying has come out?

I've been seeing comments in response to the Senate anti-lynching bill claiming it isn't necessary because, hey, lynchings don't occur any more!

They're gathered over at Floyd's place, where you 'll be glad to know that according to some he was a dangerous criminal who despite being cuffed on the ground was uncontrollable, and besides, he was so sick he was as good as dead anyway.

Honestly. What do you think the 'something' is when having four languages is 'the UN'? (Hint: it's a bit wider than being 'all about Thermal'). What 'preconception' do you think me pointing out that four languages isn't very many evidences? Maybe you should adjust yours rather than just going back to your kneejerk contrarianism?

Actually forget it, I can't be bothered. Fine you win, it's all about you or whatever you want to hear. Enjoy.

Don't you worry, there's a few here that can still find Arbery the aggressor despite being chased for 7 minutes and struck by a vehicle. They are just a bit tied up defending racist cops in the other thread at the moment.

I still find it disturbing that the only people here that I've seen use racial slurs are the people who consider themselves fighters against racism.

shrug

Again, as long as someone keeps their bigotry to thenself, they can be as upset as they want. In their time. It's their problem.

When they act out in public, it becomes an issue. And this woman decided to weaponize her privilege. She's untrustworthy, I'd walk out of a store if I saw her standing behind it. That's how it is, you can ask Giz. She had a great chance, and frankly will be more in the future. But for now, screw her.

They'll have to find some other black person to justify murdering. And then y'all will argue about it again, and kill ignore waste time discussing the actual issue, to yap at the local white supremacy squad.

You know I'm right.
