He looked like such a dumbass, standing there with that book he's never read, and has no use for, other than to endear himself to his fawning evangelical base. Which was the point.

He has no use for any citizen other than those 44% ers, and not even them, really. The rest of us, we don't matter at all; we aren't useful to him. Who is going to stand up to this maniac? Is there anyone in his party strong enough to call him out, willing to risk their political careers to finally put a leash and muzzle on this mutt? Hardly likely.

How about democrats? Will they present a strong, loud persistent resistance? Shouldn't newspapers everywhere finally call this guy out for the weak, pathetic failure that he is? Hardly likely.

It's gonna be up to the rest of us to get off our lazy asses, vote, encourage and enable others to do the same.

This guy has to go.

He realized he looked like a weakling after hiding in his bunker behind the real tough guys, so instead, he got the real tough guys to beat people up for him, so he could take a walk. Which, of course, still makes him look like the weakling he is.

Trump is that one guy who like to mouth off, because he knows when push comes to shove, his friends won't just stand back and let him get his ass kicked.

He is so predictable. At first I thought it might be friendly and fun for his critics to call out his cowardice early and often because you know that makes him livid; but then I realized that would only encourage him to pull more stunts like this one.

The simple fact is that he ordered a peaceful protest dispersed, using tear gas and rubber bullets, so he could have a phony photo op; a faux tough guy holding a bible. These weren't burners and looters or antiwhatever he calls them; they were US citizens within their rights. He has to go.

What I like about it, and I do so wish that more people liked, is that it is wholly about his character. It isn't about economics, or racism, or even incompetence. Trump is accused of all of those daily here and throughout the land by his enemies, but those things are not why he is deservedly hated, why he ought to be hated by more. One thing I appreciated was that he started right from the very beginning, in the reaction to the inauguration crowds, and his pettiness and his disregard for the truth. Yes, we dislike his tax cuts for the rich, or his Supreme Court nominees, but much more so we ought to fear, and even those aligned with him politically ought to fear, an utter mendaciousness that one might expect from a Saddam Hussein, but not from the President of the United States.


I know it isn't realistic. I know it won't happen, but I am glad to see a man like George Will, whose conservative bona fides are unquestionable, calling on the Republican Party to dump their incumbent President, and even to be whisked out of power if they refuse.

From an American Spectator article that starts of mocking Justin Amash's name (A-rash!! Ha! It works on so many levels!) and goes downhill:

George Will once was a go-to thinker for limited government and rock-ribbed conservative principles. He really was. What in the world happened to him?

There are many other examples if you google "George Will is a rino"[1], but most of them are from less well-known sources. I know the name of American Spectator and thought it was a reasonably well-respected conservative magazine, but that particular article is truly dreadful. I don't see why anyone would think devotion to conservatism requires embracing Trump.

The author goes on to call Trump more conservative than Reagan and one of the ten best presidents in US history.

[1] Yes, I know that he can't be a RINO since he is no longer a Republican.
 
Hard to believe. But it's the trump supporters who enable this. If they questioned it trump would back down fast. A quote from Business Insider:

The charging police on Horseback was like the scene of the cossacks charging the domonstrators in "DR ZHIVAGO".
And I remember of the words of Pasha, a demonstrator who gets a sabre cut in the face;
"There will be no more peaceful Demonstrations aftyer this".

Indeed. And what happened to George Will is that he stayed with his principles.
 
I'm surprised he didn't try humping the Bible. Or at least clutch it close to his chest as if he really, really loves it.

Of course, it was probably burning his fingers.

I can think of a clear response the state governors can give Trump. It's pretty famous in US military circles too. And probably wholly appropriate given who made the ultimatum.

But does Twitter remember it? Have any of his latest posts exhorting violence been given the "this post exhorts violence" sticker?
 
Another thing. Trump claims he is mobilizing a "heavily armed" military to stop protesters.

One would assume that the military would likely as not be "heavily armed" so who is this for, his idiot sycophants? Do they get all hard/wet listening to this fake tough talk?
