Great job last night at the White House by the U.S. @SecretService. They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe. They let the “protesters” scream & rant as much as they wanted, but whenever someone....

....got too frisky or out of line, they would quickly come down on them, hard - didn’t know what hit them. The front line was replaced with fresh agents, like magic. Big crowd, professionally organized, but nobody came close to breaching the fence. If they had they would....

....have been greeted with the most vicious dogs, and most ominous weapons, I have ever seen. That’s when people would have been really badly hurt, at least. Many Secret Service agents just waiting for action. “We put the young ones on the front line, sir, they love it, and....

....good practice.” As you saw last night, they were very cool & very professional. Never let it get out of hand. Thank you! On the bad side, the D.C. Mayor, @MurielBowser, who is always looking for money & help, wouldn’t let the D.C. Police get involved. “Not their job.” Nice!

ETA: And then we make a huge production out of quarantining Trudeau as soon as he crosses the border back into Canada. Like, set up a giant decontamination tent just inside the border, spray the entire car, guys with brushes scrubbing JT down, lots of suds and nudity for the ladies.

I like it.

And for the record, I'm straight.

When I heard he was pushing for a new G7 conference, I was of the opinion that Canada should refuse to attend.

But now I'm thinking we should send Trudeau. And just Trudeau. No other members of the G7 should show up.

And then Trudeau should just troll the **** out of Trump. Wear a stupid shirt at every meeting, make faces at every photo op. Constantly "slip up" and refer to it as "The G2 meeting".
Maybe we can get Trudeau to wear black face too, to see if trump mistakenly thinks he "has a black friend".

President of the United States really wrote that.

To be fair, the “press conference” was delayed for an important presidential responsibility...

...tweeting.
Just out of curiosity, I suspect you were joking, but were there any tweets sent out during that particular press conference delay?

Hard to believe this is the way the man in the White House expresses himself. And on social media. What a loon. The New York Times reported on it and it was apparently quite a night.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the White House late Friday to protest the police killing of a black man in Minneapolis — and President Donald Trump’s response. Protesters hurled pieces of bricks, bottles and other objects at Secret Service and U.S. Park Police officers who were in riot gear behind barricades around the White House. Protesters at times kicked and punched officers and wrestled over the barricades.

As some in the crowd grew more aggressive, police deployed pepper spray to keep them back and maintain a perimeter of officers around the White House...The protest went on for hours before police declared the gathering “unlawful” and ordered everyone to leave Lafayette Square, a seven-acre public park located directly north of the White House. Dozens of officers pushed forward with their shields and fired off streams of pepper spray at protesters. “Out of the park or you will be sprayed,” an officer shouted at the crowd. I seriously doubt that. It’s semi-coherent, and uses junior high level vocabulary. My guess is that it's Stephen Miller's masturbatory fantasy.

Pretty sure it was mentioned during the delay.

Given that the first tweets by others on his press conference are now showing as 18 hours ago, the two below fall in about that time frame:

The professionally managed so-called “protesters” at the White House had little to do with the memory of George Floyd. They were just there to cause trouble. The @SecretService handled them easily. Tonight, I understand, is MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE???

These are “Organized Groups” that have nothing to do with George Floyd. Sad!

Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis will never be mistaken for the late, great General Douglas McArthur or great fighter General George Patton. How come all of these places that defend so poorly are run by Liberal Democrats? Get tough and fight (and arrest the bad ones). STRENGTH!

Odds. Only 13 of top 50 cities have republican mayors.

“Once he starts ducking”?

Didn’t he go more than a year with no press conferences?

He had rallies back then.

Plus, if they would allegedly stand by him if he shot someone, why would walking away from questions hurt him in any possible way?

Well, who said they would stand by him if he shot someone? That was a certain Donald Trump, as I recall. I think it really would depend quite a bit on who he shot and under what circumstances.

Also, your definition of a leader and their definition of a leader are worlds apart. They admire the way he calls his opponents childish names. They admire his ballsiness and how he uses it to get away with lying.

Well, that's the point: If the loud bully gets too complicated, if he shies away from confrontations with the press, if he .... basically .... stops being fun, quite a lot of them may well start to lose interest.

... If he forgets to tell them the lies they want to hear because he is too busy telling the lies he wants to hear.

Twitter please! Ban this troll already. There also do not appear to be any 'plans' for a MAGA rally at the White House tonight. trump made that up.
The president also appeared to call for a counter protest, tweeting: "Tonight, I understand, is MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE???" Politico link

He's a) goading the demonstrators, b) encouraging the trumpettes to turn out in force. It looks like trump is actually trying to set up a violent confrontation. I get the feeling trump is loving every minute of this.

This nightmare just goes on and on.

I'm taking a break from the news from the States, or, well, checking on it about 1% as much (it's hard to get away from), and I find it's been good for me.

SpaceX is launching soon, and I'll be watching that. It's a good way to get away from the coverage of the dystopian cluster **** the US under the Trump administration has turned out to be. I'm watching the livestream coverage now, and I suggest others do the same.

From the perspective of the White House, George Floyd did not die in vain as long as the lead story is not 100,000 deaths.
