Yo, earlier in the thread I said this
.....

You are in a position to test this for yourself.

Get your wife to test you by turning the wifi on/pretend to turn the wifi on several times a day, you should know which is pretend and which is real within 15 minutes.

Make sure you count the misses as well as hits though.

To which you replied with this..

Good suggestion. At 10 am and 3 pm, I will ask her to put the modem under a shoe box in the room and chose to turn on or pretend to turn on. Give it 30 minutes and then I make a choice of on or off. Easier than the tower.
...
I assume you have done it if you care about what's real,

What was the result? Did you get it correct when you felt the wifi was on?
what was your hit/miss ratio?

I have to apologize for not doing this test yet. For the past 7 days I have had to visit my wife's factory to do repairs and maintenance. This meant I had to drive past towers. I now realized how sensitive I am because I started feeling unwell most afternoons and evenings. It is pretty bad. Because I have fallen behind on my commitments I do not want to make myself more unwell by taking part in tests that I KNOW for certain will make me ill.

The past week has caused my blood pressure to sky-rocket. The electrosmog causes it. I am now using personal shielding when I go out our home. I have to cut way back on my calorie intake and do some serious walking three times a day.

It may take a week or more to get myself well and stable enough to do the tests. I have to admit a reluctance to deliberating harming myself.

I did a bit of a hunt. Took me all of 10 minutes.

The book in question seems to have been named in a TV appearance prior to the Meet the Press segment.
COVID Conspiracy theories are a 'disinformation bonfire': Full Clint Watts
I can't watch in in my region.

But, from someone on a discussion board who had seen it claims it is this book,
Plague of Corruption: Restoring Faith in the Promise of Science (Children’s Health Defense) by Judy Mikovits (Author), Kent Heckenlively (Author).
So nothing actually new here - just the Mikovits ******** doing the rounds.

And in keeping with any facts quoted by CTers, the book has not been removed from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Plague-Corruption-Restoring-Promise-Science/dp/1510752242.

And it sorta was #1 on Amazon
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #21 in Books
#1 in Scientist Biographies
#1 in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia
#1 in Virology

Thanks. I appreciate your effort.

It does not appear to be self-published which is why I overlooked it. I used that criteria in my search (both electronically and personal persusal).

The movie appears to be Plandemic which was apparently removed by various platforms. It is an interview of Mikovits.

There are many comments and sites which say she is a dangerous conspiracy theorist.

Okay - I got some of it wrong, but I did ask you guys to fact check me.

What I did not get wrong was the censorship by tech companies on material deemed to be "dangerous". Saying electrosmog is harmful is deemed "dangerous". Especially any reference to 5G and Covid. Reddit did just that.

I ask once more. Who decides?

No, saying electrosmog is harmful is merely superstition unfounded by any evidence and shown to be psychosomatic (at best). The belief in it is only "dangerous" to those who think it exists and allow the unfounded belief to affect their lives.

Pardon me if I haven't followed the plot and the cast of characters. I had assumed that the god in question was a universal higher power. But now with Satan having entered the building, apparently it's the Christian version of god being discussed.

The only entity that exists is an Infinite Intelligence and we are an illusion (we live in a virtual universe) in its mind.

But it chose to have God and Satan also be characters in the dream. The dream is to entertain - and what good story does not have super heroes and super villains?

My experience is that all the major religions have some basic truths, and that while the Laws of Physics apply most of the time there are some subtle interventions. The Abrahamic God is a good description as is Satan. But the Higher Power in Animistic religions and the various Gods in Hindu religions can be seen to intervene and do good or evil. The Gods of Mythology are as named - myths.

People can continue with their religion while acknowledging that there is common ground.

And atheists now have a basis for acknowledging that there is a non-zero probability of a God even if they feel the probability is low because they prefer some other hypothesis of the origin of the Universe (Prime Cause). They can be less antagonistic, and more tolerant, and the world can be a better place.

Time to put your search skills to work to find the scientific articles of harm. There are many reputable ones.

But your attitude is why I say that the humans are helping God to reduce the depopulation on the planet. Eventually the truth will come out.

Like the scientist that sells a book title "A Universe from Nothing", and then in the book admits that actually there had to be "something" as a Prime Cause.

He is misleading the public for profit (and his own ego).

And the many scientists who supported the leaded petrol industry, the tobacco industry, the carbon-emitting industries, the radium industries and a number of others.

Why can you (and the industries) cherry pick your "science" to the detriment of others? And even suppress the science that may actually be the truth?

Death rate percentages by country:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1105914/coronavirus-death-rates-worldwide/

The percentages vary quite a lot.

14% in Belgium. 6% in the USA. 1.2% in South Africa. 0.6% in Russia. So far.

Why the difference?

If 60% of the world gets the virus in the next 3 years, what can we estimate the death rate to be?

I would add that the USA is unlocking mostly without masking. I fear it will lead to a huge spread.

Have done that for years on this forum.

Last person I engaged with was a charlaton trying to sell products to "protect" the deluded from "electrosmog" .

He at least knew the pseudoscience but failed miserably at actual science.
But your attitude is why I say that the humans are helping God to reduce the depopulation on the planet. I thought Eventually the truth will come out.
Reducing the planet's population, or at least it's growth, is probably a very good thing. Remarkably in the developed world, those with a higher education tend towards smaller families.

So, education and science is your friend.
God doesn't come into the equation,
1. because (S)He is not necessary for science and educationm and
B. (S)He doesn't exist.

Let's do a thought experiment.

Suppose, for the purposes of it, that smoking is harmless. There is no objective evidence that it causes lung cancer, or any other kind of cancer or heart disease - no demonstrated correlation between rising levels of smoking and increasing incidence of any kind of ill health. There are some studies which show that tissue exposed to levels of nicotine many times greater than those in cigarette smoke can become damaged, but other studies show no such damage, so even this is questionable.

Now suppose that a few people get it into their heads that smoking causes all kinds of health problems, including their own. They insist that cigarette smoke is damaging everybody's immune system and thus making people more susceptible to all sorts of diseases, including a new one that is responsible for a current pandemic. They have not a shred of scientific evidence to support these claims, indeed blind testing shows them to be mistaken about a connection between smoking and their own health problems.

Some of these people write books and make documentaries full of factual errors and deliberate misrepresentations to push their beliefs, despite the total lack of scientific evidence for them. Gullible, uninformed people read them and believe them. As a direct result, they target cigarette factories and tobacconists. Shops are being burnt down, law abiding factory workers and shopworkers are being threatened and intimidated.

What do you think would be a reasonable response to this situation, PartSkeptic? Would the cigarette companies be justified in trying to get these books and documentaries withdrawn? Do the publishers of them bear any responsibility for the damage being done, and if so what steps could they reasonably take?

Surely making believers less antagonistic and more tolerant would do far more to make the world a better place, given that atheists are probably the least of the world's problems on that score. What's your Infinite Intelligence's plan for that?

Personally, I would go with those best qualified to make such determination. OTOH, you seem to believe that your abject ignorance should rule the roost.

So fine. Go ahead, work your ouija board and read your tarot cards and all that all day long. I choose not to bork my own family with such superstitious nonsense.

It's not the capacity of memory that's being questioned, it's the reliability.

It's not like a filing system, where the file stays the same no matter how many times you retrieve it. Every time you retrieve a memory it's a modified version you put back.

Similar wording from the Bill Bryson "The Body" book:

"Memory is more like a Wikipedia page. You can go in there and change it, and so can other people"

Equating me to a witch? To some medieval moron? A good tactic for people who consider themselves enlightened. Note the extreme derogatory language!

I ask - where are the rigorous tests by the Telcos to prove this technology DOES NOT cause harm?

Where are the scientists and studies with a very good explanation as to why the studies on 2G, 3G and 4G - that DO show a mechanism for harm - are invalid?

https://www.politico.com/news/magaz...acy-roots-europe-wave-cell-tower-fires-264997

...All over Europe, 5G telephone towers are being set on fire. At least 16 masts in the Netherlands have gone up in flames. There have been attacks on 5G equipment in Italy, Ireland, Belgium and Cyprus. The United Kingdom, ever-keen to outperform the Continent, has witnessed more than 60 such acts of arson.

...The vandals draw from a sludge of absurd theories to explain their motivations: that 5G masts somehow spread the coronavirus, or that the radiation from these towers weakens our immune systems, laying us bare to Covid-19. Or even that there is no Covid-19 at all, that the disease is a myth to explain the worst effects of 5G rays.

...Health authorities have gone blue in the face insisting that 5G technology hasn’t been proven to cause any danger to anyone.

...History supplies a sharp parallel. Beginning in the middle of the 16th century, tens of thousands of men and women—women, for the most part—were killed for being witches.

Your post is not a thought experiment. It is real life. Except for the targeting of cigarette factories and stores. There are adverts of doctors recommending smoking. Even today, the industry maintains that smoking does not cause cancer.

The link between smoking and lung cancer is well established - by epidemiological studies. They show a 20 year lag however. Can the world tolerate a 20 year lag from cell phone emfs? Where people have no choice of exposure?

The trouble with infinite intelligence is that it never seems to be able to communicate its ideas.

How do you explain the fact that most people believe in the afterlife (a soul) and the existence of God and the supernatural?

Most of these concepts are common threads in most beliefs.

Charlatans and frauds have always used the beliefs to fleece people. That does not falsify the basics.

How do you explain the great prophets? And their teachings?

 Comparing the people who are currently burning down essential infrastructure and intimidating telecomms workers with the people who burnt and persecuted "witches" seems like a pretty good analogy to me. The witch burners, like the CT-ers, relied entirely on anecdotal evidence to justify their actions. They were a textbook case of what can happen when people give subjective feelings and beliefs more weight than objective evidence. One of history's earliest conspiracy theories, you could say.

Your post is not a thought experiment. It is real life.
Smoking is harmless in real life? As usual, you have missed the point entirely.

Let me try again.

You are assuming that your electrosmog hypothesis is like the link between smoking and cancer - a genuine health problem which is being deliberately covered up by vested interests. I am asking you to imagine, as a thought experiment, a scenario where the claimed link between smoking and cancer was not genuine, but was actually a baseless conspiracy theory. The aim of this thought experiment was to help you understand why the telecomms industry, and content providers like Youtube, might be responding as they are to your baseless conspiracy theory, not with any nefarious intent, but out of a genuine desire to minimise the damage being done by demonstrably erroneous beliefs. Or, to switch to the analogy you just quoted, they are like the women who desperately tried to stop the spread of the ridiculous rumours that they were witches before they ended up on that stake.

ETA: Going to talk about emergence yet?

Let us define the word and concept first. I will use these:

Dictionary: Adjective - Philosophy (of a property) arising as an effect of complex causes and not analyzable simply as the sum of their effects.

Wiki:
In philosophy, systems theory, science, and art, emergence occurs when an entity is observed to have properties its parts do not have on their own. These properties or behaviors emerge only when the parts interact in a wider whole

https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/properties-emergent/
...Emergence is a notorious philosophical term of art.
...emergent entities (properties or substances) ‘arise’ out of more fundamental entities and yet are ‘novel’ or ‘irreducible’ with respect to them. (For example, it is sometimes said that consciousness is an emergent property of the brain.)
