NYTimes puts together timeline of final minutes of Arbery's life based on the surveillance cameras, 911 calls, and cell-phone footage. This is the first reporting I've seen that coordinates all these pieces together. I found the street map footage very helpful for understanding how the killers and their victim ended up at the final location.

This video helps to show the McMichaels initiated their attack on Arbery long before the first shot was fired.

The McMichaels did not see Arbery commit any crime on Feb. 23 and yet they pursued him with loaded guns.

Greg and Travis should have known that nothing was removed from the house on the 11 Feb. 20 so they had no legal reason to have hunted , ambushed and killed him.

Now I think it's much more likely that he was up to no good in the Satilla Shores neighborhood.

Mate, I'm finding the thread a bit tedious and repetitive - can you PM me when the first poster suggests he deserved to die? (Horse thieving and rustling are still capital crimes in USA, right?)

TIA

His behavior in the video suggests a certain kind of character that suggests to me he's more like to be involved in criminal activity. Mode of dress, confrontational manner with police, and many more subtle behavioral cues I've picked up upon from being part of and associating with the criminal elements of society.

Everything in the USA seems to be a capital crime if you can make the case that you feel threatened.

When you have a hammer...

Wow. This is pretty much a S T post word for word.

He looks like a Thug to me and he got upset when he was harassed by the cops for no reason, so he must be a criminal.

Amazing logic there.

because he moved, and he's a ******. As we've established, racists believe that black people who put their hands in their pockets, take them out of their pockets, lift their hands, lower them, walk, run, jog, stand, sit, and other such dangerous movements are dangerous. And of course, they must be patient and understand when any cop or white person shoves them around, screams, threatens them, and so forth.

But it's not a double standard.

Also, he's wearing a banned item, which includes hoodies, coats, tshirts, jeans, khakis, shorts, and suits.

Allowed items include rags and slave chains.

(But really, it seems rather obvious that, like Eric Garner, the cops have been messing with the black people here for a long time, waiting for one of them to snap and do *anything*, so they can have their violent fun)

Let's not forget the ongoing and pervasive culture of harassment of young black people by white cops. I would be very surprised if the near-tazing incident was the first time Arbery had a run-in with law enforcement.

To be fair, it appears that the man has ongoing mental health issues, including depression, and from the description possibly additional undiagnosed problems. That doesn't excuse murder though.

I didn't see a need to be fair. If you lose your warrant to arrest people because you fail, repeatedly, to do the training, including classes on detention using firearms and then you try and detain someone with a firearm and they end up dead, then it doesn't matter if you missed that training because you have ongoing mental health issues or not, you deserve everything you get. And on that note a person who "has ongoing mental health issues, including depression, and from the description possibly additional undiagnosed problems" should not be allowed near a firearm!

That is indeed a valid position. I was not intending to excuse his actions (which should be very clear from that and other posts I have made in this thread). And I totally agree with you on that last part. Then again, I believe that no-one who doesn't have a valid demonstrated requirement for one should be allowed near a firearm.

Let's not forget that initially claimed they saw him put his hand in his shorts the "other night"..... if that isn't a clear indication that a black man is armed days later I don't know what is!

Seriously - the initial statement shows they knew they had to have a "reason" for hunting him whilst armed:

"...."the other night" they saw the same male and he stuck his hand down his pants which lead them to believe the male was armed..."

Does this mean that we have to add "scratching their bollocks" to the list of things that black men cannot safely do in America?

Don't be silly!

All that it means is if they wish to make adjustments they have to know they are increasing their chances of being hunted down in broad daylight and killed days later. So when they are hunted down in broad daylight and killed it is their fault....
