1. Haney was eligible for parole since 2107 and had a mandatory release date of August 22 this year.

2. Haney was serving a 7 year sentence for robbery.

3. Republican led states are also releasing some prisoners early due to Covid 19, including Texas, AL, Iowa, SC and several others. This is not a Democrat policy.

Whether or not it's a legal firing remains to be seen. It looks very much like a retribution firing which is illegal. The AG was looking into Sec of State Pompeo, who just happens to be the person who suggested the AG be fired. Trump has fired 4 AG's who he did not consider 'loyal' or had in some way displeased him by criticizing him, countering claims he's made or playing a small role in the impeachment is concerning. He is removing these AG's for doing their jobs.

All Trump and Republicans care about is getting him re-elected. Disgraceful.

Given his history, given how long it's taken, I assume it's something that will blow up in his face. In the meantime, all the idiot is doing is reminding everyone of Obama - which likely helps Biden. Obama himself appeared to give a couple commencement speeches and basically call the idiot...well, an idiot.

If it is the DoD's information, and it is classified, the DoD can rescind the access to the documents.
 
I think we should start adding to the project of debunking and refuting the thousands of lies that Trump spews and begin to figure out how to counter-act the underlying cause, which is the 40-45% of Americans that are willing to be ruled by an authoritarian who damages our democracy. They are the minds that have to be changed, because other parts of the rest of the problem (like the Senate) rests on them.

Surely that is a long-term project that won't show significant improvement in the short term. But it's time to start figuring that out, precisely because it will take a while. Now, I surely don't know how to do this, so greater minds than I will have to weigh in. I suppose Obama would say that appeals to civil and democratic principles can model how a citizen should act, and he has surely done his part. What else? Or is it impossible to make any improvement over some arbitrary time period?

Without improvement in that area, how can anything else be improved?

There are 170 days between now and the election.
If I were the Democratic Party, I’d pick the 170 most egregious examples of Trump’s lies and debunk one each day. Call it the Lie of the Day. Spend money publicizing the first ten and then just send out press releases - a lot of news agencies will consider the LotD to be news and will cover it for free.

That is just the right pace. The media will call the WH and ask for a response. Trump’s administration won’t have time to provide a useful response. Trump will insist on saying something stupid. And the 24-hour news cycle doesn’t care about yesterday, so if the GOP responds to something that is more than 18 hours old, it won’t be covered as much as today’s LotD.

We have no idea how many of those social media accounts are even genuine.

Maybe China can fire up its machine to counter Russia's machine. Not saying that's a good thing; just wondering if the foreign meddling might at times be going both ways.
