The Trump Presidency: Part 21

Even if he lives there, it's still obviously a private club. It's in no way a giant one-family residence like it was before he bought it. It should probably be taxed as a mixed-use, like whatever they zone a condo building that has businesses within it.

But that's not what he agreed to, and it's not what the town permitted. He had previously been forbidden to sell condos and residences. They're not going to say "Okay, do whatever you want."

Yeah, he's not gonna get away with it.

she tested very good for a long period of time and then all of the sudden today she tested positive... This is why the whole concept of tests aren’t necessarily great.

Does he even know why testing is done?

This is why the whole concept of smoke alarms isn't great. You can have no alarms for a long time, then today for some reason an alarm goes off.

Asked why Trump didn't wear mask at WWII memorial with people in their 90s, McEnany says "They made the choice to come here, because they've chosen to put their nation first. They wanted to be with their commander-in-chief."

...and all said that Trump not feeling like he looks funny in a mask is far more important than living.

There it is, folks, the dumbest thing we'll ever hear Trump say.

I hope.

And a new one:

"Trump additionally addressed criticism about attending the event without a mask, CNN reports, with the president telling the press "I was very far away from [the veterans] … Plus the wind was blowing so hard in such a direction that if the plague ever reached them, I'd be very surprised."

ETA: And those tests he and his staff get regularly? They are (notoriously unreliable) antibody tests.

I've long wrestled with the question of whether or not a seemingly stupid person knowing they are stupid automatically disqualifies them from actually being stupid, usually while deluding myself for a few hours that the fish would actually be biting today.

More on topic, complaining about the results of a staffer getting sick is just another example of how Trump's handling of the presidency has largely been reactive. I've yet to see some indication of planning ahead for even weak inconveniences like this.

He can reasonably claim that the White House is his official residence as long as he is president. I seriously doubt he'll want to actually live there after he loses the election. He could, however, put his presidential library in an empty matchbox and store it under a potted fern in the main lobby.

It seems obvious he doesn't. His comment suggests that he thinks testing is a waste of time because doesn't tell you whether you might someday get the disease. All it does is tell you when you have it.

What the hell good is a test for a disease if all it does is test for the disease?
