HAPPENING NOW: Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds fly over New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in a salute to our first responders.
This is spectacular and historic tribute to all those on the frontline of the war against #COVID19!
God Bless America!

First, there is no shortage of meat destined for the grocery store shelf.
It might take stores longer than usual to restock certain products, due to supply chain disruptions. But we have many millions of pounds of meat in cold storage across the nation.
While staring at an empty meat counter (or an empty fridge), how comforting is it to know there's meat "somewhere?"

The Rose Garden presser yesterday showed his hair to be not the usual orange, but white/light gray. It must have been the natural lighting.

I know it is a trivial aspect compared to the much more serious problems that are Trump, but I can’t figure out the hair and the awful orange “tan”. He is a wealthy person. He also has access to hair stylists and cosmetologists by virtue of being president. Is this the best he can do? Especially the incredible fake orange toning that doesn’t reach his eyes or ears. It is so obviously fake and makes it so clear that his actual skin tone is a pasty, sick looking white. Does he not notice? With his ego I doubt he does not care.

This man has been stupidly rich his entire life. His daddy spent his entire formative years paying money to people to make Trump look good. There has never in his life been someone who was both inclined to, and allowed to, tell Trump the truth about himself. Anyone who dared would likely be fired. And so he's never developed a sense of when he might be looking ridiculous to those around him.

Honestly, the guy's lies are on the level of the proverbial kid with his hand in the cookie jar. "You just said inject", "No I didn't!", when the confirming evidence is right there in front of us. He's never had to be a good liar because those around him just went along with his bad lies, in order to keep their jobs.

Trump is the ultimate spoiled child. Other spoiled children eventually run into someone who calls them on their ********, but Trump never did. This is also why he thinks the reporters at the Whitehouse are the "nastiest" people he's ever encountered. It's because they literally are the nastiest people he ever met that he's not allowed to fire immediately.

I can’t link right now, but his approval rating specifically regarding his handling of the crisis is down 22 points overall, 9 points among Republicans.

"Disapproval of Trump is spreading faster than, than... something. Whatever spreads really quickly if you're dumb enough to ignore it."

One of these days, he's going to realise how ridiculous he looks, with the contrast between the Cheeto topping and those sad-looking eyes devoid of it.

I gotta say, he looks like a sick man these days, but the eyes in that shot are something else. Does he do meth?

His irises were being sarcastic.

Blame the Democrats for any “lateness” in your Enhanced Unemployment Insurance. I wanted the money to be paid directly, they insisted it be paid by states for distribution. I told them this would happen, especially with many states which have old computers.

I wonder if he thinks all the Federal government computers are up-to-date?

Well, I'm sure we'll all be alright eating Theoretical Cold Storage Meat, those days that the shelves are empty of actual meat.

Do these guys ever think even one sentence ahead? It doesn't matter how much meat you have in Place A if it's needed in Place B, and you can't get it there.

There's meat out there alright. How much is destined for the grocery store counters remains a question.

In what may be a purely local phenomenon here in NC (which has more than its share of chicken processing facilities), local chicken processors are selling boxes of chicken at fire-sale prices out of the backs of tractor-trailers. Forty lb. boxes for $0.80. lb..

They've been announcing the locations they're going to set up a day or two in advance on the local news stations. Cars have been lining up for miles, some as much as ten hours ahead of time. Local cops and the state Highway Patrol are having to provide traffic and crowd control.

Meanwhile, in the grocery stores, there is no shortage of chicken either, but the prices are the same as pre-Covid-19. If not higher.

Beef, OTOH ...

I've never been hungry enough to do something like this. If we're really at this stage this early in the pandemic, and people aren't just being all dramatic, we're ******.

I'm still at the stage where I won't go shopping if the line up is long enough to turn a corner. Ten hours? Nuts.

I don't remember if it was here or in another forum, but someone was saying that the problem for food processors is that restaurants aren't buying, and redirecting food from restaurants to grocery stores isn't a matter of just calling the stores and saying "Do you want this?".

Exactly.

And he believes that there is absolutely nothing too nasty for him to publicly say about his opponents.

The king of special pleading.

That's correct, and a worldwide problem, and not just for food commodities.

We're desperately short of flour in NZ thanks to dickheads panic buying six weeks ago and now the only way you can buy flour is in 25 kg (50-lb) bags, because the packaging for consumer sizes isn't available.

When supply chains rely on each other and one breaks, shortages ensue.

Yeah. That is certainly among the issues. Chicken goes into a lot of things other than grocery store displays.

And for a bit of additional irony, they can't sell the industrial sized packages of toilet paper at the retail stores either. Even though the desperately fearful would cheerfully buy it in that size. Because, not being packaged for retail, they don't have the right barcodes.
