Consider that the leaders of Spain, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy (!) have experienced double-digit increases in their approval ratings.

Right, Trump hasn't benefited politically like most political leaders would have.

But that's not really the definition of "freefall".

This.

This really summarizes it: no matter how stupid, how bizarre, how absurdly funny/impossible it seemed this morning, Trump likely did or said it this afternoon.

Almost never discussed by the news is how far our expectations, standards, and sense of decency have been dragged down by Trump over the past 3 years. What a Trump says or does in any one day now would have produced widespread bipartisan calls for his removal from office if viewed from 5 years ago.

Very fair point, 2-3 percent isn't a big difference, so "freefall" was probably the wrong term. I was referring more to how steeply the curve was descending, especially during a crisis that should have gotten Trump lots of free popularity, just for doing his job (look at the massive spike Bush II enjoyed after 9/11).

Which he of course isn't. Couldn't. Won't.

It reminds me of how there seems to be no limit to how crazy conspiracy theorists can get.

It turns out those original "Nobel" Tweets have been deleted. I wonder how that's treated in the official Presidential records? If they're saved anyway, are the reactions/comments saved also? I think those are the most telling.

I'm not a Twitterer so indulge my ignorance: When a tweet is deleted, does that also delete any retweets?

FOX fired Diamond & Silk for promoting disinformation about Covid-19.

Because Diamond and Silk are held to a higher standard than, y'know, America's president.

Nah. It's "I take no responsibility."

Well, that President Trump’s personal motto. Although I think it is more properly phrased as “If it is good, I take full responsibility and if it is bad, I take no responsibility.”

As I said, the administration's motto is “Yeah, So what are you going to do about it?”

Not sure. The only reason I got Twitter is to see The PDJT's ramblings. I'm pretty sure deleting a Tweet also takes the comments with it. And those are often up in the tens of thousands.

Good point. I concede.

Trump's deterioration is apparently contagious o.O .

It is difficult to imagine - for me - how the sycophants around him continue to humor him. But I would really like to know, and to know how difficult it must be, 24/7.

Trump in action:

Jan 22nd - “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”

Feb 2nd - “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China."

Feb 24th - “The Coronavirus is very much under control

Feb 25h - “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”

Feb 25h - “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”

Feb 26th - “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”

Feb 26th - “We're going very substantially down, not up.” Also "This is a flu. This is like a flu"; "Now, you treat this like a flu"; "It's a little like the regular flu that we have flu shots for. And we'll essentially have a flu shot for this in a fairly quick manner."

February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

March 2nd - “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”

April 28 2020:

USA: Reported Cases, 1,010,356 Reported Deaths: 56,797

33% of the reported cases on the entire Planet.

They certainly happened very rapidly Mr President. To quote his own words from earlier today “It could have been stopped and it could have been stopped [faster] but someone a long time ago decided not to do it that way.”

Norm. Reading your excellent post, actually made me feel fear again. I don't want to ask that rhetorical question; Look at the bright side. How much worse could it get? (implied smiley-face) Yet I wonder . . .

Well, that President Trump’s personal motto. Although I think it is more properly phrased as “If it is good, I take full responsibility credit and if it is bad, I take no responsibility.”

FTFY. He never takes "responsibility" for anything. He takes the credit for everything good, though.
