I decided to take a look at the live press conference today. I started watching just as he was suggesting to inject people with disinfectant and UV light. Just when I thought he could not get any more stupid. I can't believe how stupid he is. I just hope some idiot doesn't hear him say it and start injecting themselves with bleach or go bake themselves in a tanning bed thinking it will cure/prevent Coronavirus.

Boycotts, Divestment, and Sanctions. It was a "We support Israel" thing taken to an unconstitutional level, on the heels of, IIRC, a state or few doing much the same (last I heard on that front was that an earlier state-level anti-BDS bill was overturned in court).

I get where he is coming from. He really, really wants to be the hero of the hour "Sir - we would never have defeated Coronavirus without you" and he considers himself to be a genius with unique ideas and insights. He probably thinks he really is being helpful by suggesting that some agent that kills Coronavirus is introduced to the human body and probably does think that those Poindexters with their ivory-tower mentality haven't considered it and would welcome his man-of-the-world-get-it-done suggestions.

Like as not, this delusion is fuelled by the fact that he has watched (highlights of) too may disaster movies where the rebel-hero does exactly that thing. He's also had 70 years of experience of people doing their best to accommodate his ridiculous suggestions.

The right wing press would immediately jump on it, claiming that it was unpatriotic to criticise a President during wartime. They would also seize any possible opportunity to suggest that the President was misquoted or quoted out of context.

Because they have a scintilla of honour, the Democrats might feel obliged to either clarify or possibly even apologise for the tweet - which completely ruins the whole idea.

In any case, this kind of thing would be out of character so it'd just look "wrong" IMO.

To be honest, in this regard, they actually are the do nothing Democrats. They leave the field to the idiot. But the tactic that the idiot makes an idiot of himself and the people would notice that, doesn't work anymore.
