The Trump Presidency: Part 21

Let's talk masks again. Masks are in our future. We need lots of masks.

I'm part of an organization for whom cosplay is a way of life, so everyone I know owns at least one sewing machine. (Our household has three.) I'm seeing articles here and there about people making masks at home. Some of those articles are "how to" pieces for making a personal mask. Others are about people who have volunteered there time to make lots of masks to be donated. One friend of ours, who makes her living making costumes, has actually shifted to commercial production of masks. By "commercial production", I don't mean a factory. I mean she spends her day at a sewing machine, sewing masks.

I would love to see the President actually encourage that sort of thing. Give a shout out to volunteers or independent "small businesses", like my friend who sews masks all day. I don't know if it's conceivable to buy fabric and give it to people, or if there is some way to compensate people, but even if it is just, "Please make masks for yourself, or your family and friends. Here's some instructions....." that would help with a mask shortage.

Some people might have issues with the quality of home produced masks. However, some people actually have the ability to produce face shields at home, or perhaps in an idle business machine shop, or a school workshop. Those might be more effective. They are certainly easier to inspect and verify that they are made correctly.

We'll never see anything like that, though. It's not Trump's style. For all his populist style, he really only deals with businesses. Moreover, he never, ever, asks for sacrifice. He's more into giveaways.

Yes, back in WW II, volunteerism and community sharing were encouraged and practiced. Those are not very popular today.

I have a sewing machine and made two masks.
You have encouraged me to make some for my friends.

I noticed this right after 9/11. Sacrifice? No, George W. encouraged people to keep traveling and keep doing all the other things they normally did.

Let's see if authorities enforce the social-distancing orders for mosques during Ramadan (April 23-May 23) like they did churches during Easter.
This is a very revealing statement...and it does not reflect well on Paul Sperry.
Are you suggesting different religions should get different treatment in context of adhering to rules during pandemic?

She calls it “the flu” and says that calling it the China Virus is racist towards Asian Americans. Just as Xi Jinping ordered.

The People’s Republic of Los Angeles. @ericgarcetti is out of control like the rest of the democrats.

Nervous Nancy is an inherently “dumb” person. She wasted all of her time on the Impeachment Hoax. She will be overthrown, either by inside or out, just like her last time as “Speaker”. Wallace & @FoxNews are on a bad path, watch!

Just like I was right on Ventilators (our Country is now the “King of Ventilators”, other countries are calling asking for help-we will!), I am right on testing. Governors must be able to step up and get the job done. We will be with you ALL THE WAY!

While @realDonaldTrump believes the enemy is coronavirus, @SpeakerPelosi believes the enemy is Pres Trump. In order to defeat COVID-19, we must have a clear head & united, common purpose to confront and end this pandemic. #FundPPP

Exactly.
Didn’t Bill Maher put out a book called “When You Ride Alone, You Ride With Hitler”? A collection of 1940s government posters reminding people to carpool and cooperate to save resources.
It really emphasized the difference between the mid-Twentieth Century and the Twenty-First Century.

What I wish I would see from Trump is something about "We nee this many....., by this date...…"

No matter how many are made, he will say that he did awesome.

There's no way that will ever be forthcoming, of course. Not his style.

No, the exact opposite. Sperry is implying that Muslims will not be told to social distance like the (poor, victimized) Christians were at Easter. Sperry is the one implying the Muslims will get special treatment. He is an Islamaphobe and the author of Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington.

The five-year plans have produced the best results ever, all hail the glorious party and state!

Hospitals have been complaining a bit, too, as their supply chains are disrupted by the federal government.

Well, the hospitals just stealing and selling medical stuff out the back door anyway. Trump said so. Must be true.
