The Trump Presidency: Part 20

Trump just said that people with lupus aren't catching the virus. Then he admitted that "maybe it's false"

"Again, these are drugs that have not been proven scientifically or medically to treat COVID-19," the letter said.

Michigan's about-face follows a similar move by Nevada, which first expressed concern about using the drugs to treat coronavirus then embraced the FDA's recommendation.

While formal clinical trials have not yet been completed on the two drugs' efficacy in treating coronavirus, small studies and anecdotal reports from doctors have shown some promise, leading to the FDA decision.

In other words, there is no more proof it's effective against C19 now than before.

There are starting to be reports that some items received from the national stockpile are badly deteriorated due to lack of maintenance.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — More than 5,000 medical masks that Montgomery County received from the national stockpile were rotted, the local emergency management director said Thursday.

He's going on about having to open the country back up, bragging about all he's done, saying families are enjoying time together but not mentioning the increased domestic violence...

No one's ever seen anything like that, no one even thought of this level of contagion.. :eusa_sick:

Now the FDA head is talking about hydroxychloroquine, I have yet to hear any research results. Nope, he went on to talk antibody transfusions.

Now we have Fauci talking about opening the country up again.

Don't pay any attention to the rising death counts. [Rosy rosy rosy pep talk]

To be fair, few outside of Oregon and Washington pronounce Oregon correctly. I've lived here all my life and I still sometimes find my state's name weird to look at.

I hear Ore-GONE all the time instead of the correct Ore-GUN from non-Oregonians.

WILL-uh-mette instead of Will-AM-ette is another give away.

Exactly

But you know, we have to stoke Trump's fantasy. It makes him more pleasant for the rest of the day provided the news media doesn't piss him off.

Fauci went on the tout his 6 feet of separation recommendation. Shock, he saw marks on the sidewalk keeping people 6 feet apart in a line. It warmed his heart.

Trump's back to saying he wants to open the country up, more fantasizing.

Now he's bragging about having no opponent in the primary. What sitting POTUS has ever had an opponent in the primary unless they announced they weren't running for a second term?

I muted it again. A reporter gave Trump an opening to lie about his impeachment.

Should we take a pool: one minute increments?

I'll take three.

He's done. I think it was two.

Trump's taking credit for everything Cuomo has done. Ventilators from China, that was Trump's personal friends that did that.

Now he's on to griping about not getting enough praise from the governors.

People often pronounce an 'e' as an 'i' erroneously. Pin and Pen are great examples. I pronounce Willamette with the 'ette' sound. I live in the Willamette Valley.
As do I. I suppose now we'll have to meet on the field of honor. I suggest we use halberds or pikes so as to maintain proper social distance.

Oh god.....Trump is back bitching about the whistleblower/informer and his "perfect" telephone call. Schiff is a 'disgrace' blah blah blah. This idiot has the emotional maturity of a 5 yr old.

When he's reading he stops and emphasizes a word like he can now read that word. He's reading like maybe a third grader now, sounding out words like hydroxychloroquone.
He had more than the usual misreads/misspeaks in his opening statement today.

Trump just said that people with lupus aren't catching the virus. Then he admitted that "maybe it's false"

It's only a short step from there to "Maybe it's lupus". But "lupus" is now in his lexicon and we will hear it every day from now on.

He claimed he never liked handshaking. This from the guy who had a very specific "grab hard and pull toward" style perfected in his mind.

It's one of those half-truths.

Basically, last week (or the week before, I lose track of time) her administration sent out a letter saying that hydroxycloroquine should not be used for anything other than its approved applications, which meant not for COVID-19. Now, the drug is approved for COVID-19, so she's saying send us some.

It's not that she has changed course. Her course has been to follow the FDA guidance. However the guidance has changed.
How did Trump manage to make this all about him?
