Biden for President?

I have taken nothing out of context as you claim I did. This is the original quote I provided:

https://lawandcrime.com/high-profil...X8ZD-yLPwNHCZViE7XqFIxvuIG1DDBBDaXG6WJWuuuu1E

If she had on underwear then her statement that she "wasn't wearing anything underneath" would be untrue. Unless you think that underwear doesn't qualify as wearing something underneath her skirt?

However, I have since listened to the video of her interview yesterday. In that interview, what she actually says is "I wasn't wearing tights or anything..." "Or anything" means she had nothing on underneath. You have to listen carefully but that is what she says at the 5:20 location.

A poor choice when working on Capitol Hill, to be sure, but unlike the "Joe zBiden's in mental decline" desperate shrieks of the Berners, this one seems to have something to it, so I'll say that I'm deeply concerned. I can easily see a naive younger woman doing this, and blaming herself after being assaulted, for example.

I want to believe her provisionally, but even so, Biden's known for being touchy-feely in the "hugs and backrubs" way, not in the "sexual assault" way. If she (or he) brings forward substantial evidence, as we saw with Kavanaugh or Dolt 45, then it's a major issue.

It doesn't matter what I think it means. It matters what she thinks it means.

Wow. I'm going by her own words which is all I can go on. Whether or not she meant something else only she can say.

She could mean that to mean "tights or similar." There is ambiguity here.

It's possible. But why the need to say 'or anything'? Would one say "I wasn't wearing underwear or panties"?

Not that it matters seeing your whole point is built around an argument from incredulity. It could be she wasn't wearing underwear. Maybe she likes going natural. Who knows.

Incredulity isn't a valid basis for dismissing a person's description of their personal trauma. It can be done in every case. There is always something that can be be unduly scrutinized and use as a basis for incredulity.

I haven't dismissed her claim. My very first comment was that I didn't know if her claim was true or not. I still don't. But that doesn't mean I can't see something she said as being odd and why I find it odd.

These sorts of statements are pretty standard in sexual misconduct cases:

"I don't even own a blue shirt. If someone did something like that to me I'd remember the color of the shirt"

"She didn't seem sad. I would have been sad if that happened to me."

"Afterwards she was nice to him on the phone. She must not have been upset."

"Why would she wait years before saying anything? I would have spoken up."

etc.

I agree. Once again, I'm not saying her claim isn't true but I do find it very odd for a woman wearing a short skirt not to wear underwear under a business skirt while working. I am not arguing that her story isn't true.

Is that exactly what it means? Or does it maybe just mean "tights or pantyhose?"

The first link has this:
And I was wearing–I wasn’t wearing stockings underneath. And then, with his hand, he went from there and entered me–with his hand–and as he was trying to kiss me, and saying things to me.”
.....
And I was wearing, like a skirt, you know, a business skirt, but I wasn’t wearing stockings. It was kind of a hot day that day.

And if she had been wearing panties, surely Biden could have reached around them pretty easily? I dunno whether I believe her, but it seems like what she was or wasn't wearing under her dress is a distraction.

If there's one thing I've learned from my online investigations, it's that underwear can be simply pushed aside, but pantyhose require some forceful ripping before your partner is ready for action.

This account sounds, sadly, like a woman who has partially internalized society's "blame the rape victim" message, and is preemptively faulting herself for not having an extra layer of clothing to slow a rapist down.

It's not like men are allowed to reach up under your skirt to see whether you're ready for some surprise sex.

The first quote which I cited earlier read "I wasn't wearing anything underneath," which has a very different meaning from "I wasn't wearing stockings". I don't know how else "I wasn't wearing anything underneath" could be interpreted in any other way than what I did. And that for me was a red flag. Perhaps she did mean or pantyhose or stockings in her later statement. At this point, only she can say.

Yes, he could have reached around them. However, to do so he'd have to use some force as I think a woman would instinctively hold her legs together in resistance if a man shoved her up against a wall, took is hand down her skirt, then up and started pushing his hand between her legs. I'll repeat: I don't know if her story is true or not.

ETA: This should not be interpreted as saying Reade did not resist Biden, just that pushing aside underwear would take some force if a woman as her legs clamped together.

But you do know that if she wasn't wearing underwear, it's a sign she might be lying?

If she's lying, then who the **** knows what she was wearing, or if it even happened at all?

Maybe she was wearing a pantsuit, it was a Congressional aide, and he just said hi as he passed her in the hallway.

---

ETA: The only scenario I can think of where "not wearing underwear" would be a red flag is if she'd established a general rule with her co-workers that if they checked and found she wasn't wearing underwear, that signaled consent for some quick finger-banging between committee meetings. Biden heard about it over the water cooler, and got the wrong idea. Regrettable, sure, but understandable in the circumstances, and definitely not rape rape.

I said it was a red flag to me that seemed very odd. Stop putting words in my mouth. How many times do I have to tell you that I don't know if her claim is true or not? Why the need for such a snarky and aggressive tone anyway?

What does "red flag" mean other than "a sign she might be lying?"

A red flag how? Very odd how?

Because it sounds like you're questioning her rape claim based on what she was wearing.

Are you saying that whatever you meant by "red flag", it isn't "a warning that her account may not be accurate"? If that's the case, then what exactly is this "red flag" actually warning you about?

ETA: I'm not putting words in your mouth, I'm ridiculing your premise that what she was wearing is a "red flag".

The good news is that sexual assault doesn’t hurt a candidate’s electability.

CNN today: Joe Biden during a CNN town hall Friday night detailed how he'd respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
From a remote feed in his home in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said he starts his mornings with back-to-back briefings on the health and economic fallout of the pandemic -- and that he is regularly speaking with governors who are managing their states' responses as the numbers of confirmed cases grow beyond 100,000 nationwide. ...

It's quite decent as campaigning goes given the circumstances.
