How does this "get back to work" help the economy exactly?

Hey get the plans from Ned, then build your project.

Ned's dead

Ahh OK, bring in a new crew and just finish Jim's project then

The project building is under quarantine

Ahh ok, then just everyone stand in a room close together doing nothing, we need to bring back the economy

I have. I don't use very often as it is, but haven't hit the jazz cabbage at all since the covid-19 outbreak.

Trying to practice good respiratory system health.

That's why I ingest it by making cookies and other edibles.

That's going to be the impossible part of the equation - I do not see any way the rest of the world will be capable of repeating China's extreme distancing policy.

It'll be interesting to compare waves once this is all gone.

How well does the virus spread thru money? Do we know yet?

Same as any other paper product. Money's filthy at the best of times.

Remember those Australians skiing in Colorado who refused to be tested? Two of them returned to Australia, tested positive and then went out and did whatever they damn well pleased.

Can't you arrange a beating for them?

Gather a few old-time hard-out bush blokes, kit them up in a whole-body condom and let them kick the snot out of the little gits.

Would spray lysol be good for cleaning money?

Nuke it man! Even better, and guaranteed no harm to the money, stick it in the oven at 80 deg C for 10 minutes. Lysol might affect the colour and render it worthless.

It would help to give people a reasonable alternative. Are there government-run television channels in Japan?

If so, devote one to cherry blossoms. Twelve hours a day. Six two-person roving camera crews, some directors in a studio/van, and the necessary technicians. No chatter. No celebrities. No commercials. Music optional.

Not as good as being there, but better than any standard TV or Internet alternative version.

Japan DOES have government-run stations - NHK is pretty much the equivalent of BBC. I worry that a TV station just showing cherry blossoms would encourage more people to head to the park. Yesterday, on TV the reporters were going round to ask people who were having cherry blossom parties why they were there. Their answers were the very typically ignorant “because we are young and it can’t hurt us” or “we’re bored at home.”

Japan is incredibly well versed in the internet. It would not need to be on TV.

This made me think of something funny here in the US. Anyone ever leave the burning Yule Log on the TV channel on Christmas?

Actually Japan really is NOT very internet-savvy. Most Japanese probably get their news from TV to the extent they pay attention to news. Older people in particular hardly ever use the internet. The previous head of cyber security had never used a computer and was stumped by questions in parliament when asked about USBs. He didn’t know what a USB memory stick was.

Check alcohol content (>60%?) and remember you have to get the money thoroughly wet then let it dry.

Or, rinse everything in soapy water and let them air dry. Water won't hurt US $ bills.

I'm just using hand sanitizer after I touch money but I'm not paying for anything with cash anyway. So all the money in my wallet is before contamination started.

Good to know. I guess I'm confusing all that video gaming and smart phones with normal net access.

Certainly younger people love their smartphones. Not so much older people. I understand that South Korea is different and that people are much more internet l-savvy there and may have contributed to how South Korea got a handle on things as the internet was used to give information about clusters, where the virus has spread, tracing the movements of those with the virus etc...

Tell me why this is wrong:

Children are the prime vectors for Covid-19.

Evidence: Japan. Very early infections and closed schools on 27 February. Also South Korea, where schools have been shut since late February when their holidays began. Japan's daily infection rate iincrease has reduced from 11% to 3.5% during that time, and even if they're not counting all the cases, their mortality rate is not too far out of kilter with other numbers. South Korea's infection rate is fairly steady around an average of 6%/day.

Case statistics:

I'm going to go with kids being returned to school creating major outbreaks, and I guess we'll see the evidence a few weeks after they return.
