Trump possibly has declined so much that he can't play golf anymore.

A different, recent tweet:

Nope. I'm not jumping on another "he's got dementia" train. They tried that with Biden. Trump is a malignant narcissist, a pathological liar, a serial adulterer, a con man, and an all-around disgusting human being, but he does not have dementia.

Yeah, I can't look at that, or anything Trump supporters have to say anymore. As long as I'm on lockdown, I'm staying away from websites and boards that these people frequent. They're going to win, open up the country for business, and kill a lot of people that wouldn't have died otherwise. Let's hope I'm wrong.

I am betting he will be gone within a week.
And the markets will crash.
Or the market will approve of his departure because it signals the administration moving away from those snowflake scientists and going with Trumps gut feelings. Let's hope I'm wrong.

He takes credit for a recovering economy he inherited, why not this? It's amusing that Americans recognize the underhanded techniques of the slimy, old-timey used car salesman, but they don't see it in this guy.

Except when you buy a car from a sleazy salesman, you actually have a car. It might be a crappy one. You might have overpaid. But you are in possession of an actual object.

With President Trump, your hands are empty. All you have is a description of a wonderful terrific car that he promises you will have someday. And you are still out the money.

The Trump supporters are turning on Dr Fauci:

Yeah. I encountered some of that in threads on another board. I was thinking about asking some questions to get a better understanding of their positions. I may still do it.

Then again, that was the board where I once asked, “I had never heard that before, do you have a citation” and the response was ***** you, it happened.”

Hmmm. Now that I’m thinking of other boards, maybe I’ll go over to the Rapture Ready board and see where the End-Times Index stands.

The markets are not stupid;they know that the economy will not improve permanently unitl the virus is under control.

I wonder about the quality of the results obtained by these polling organisations.

People in quarantine or out of their jobs are far less likely to be able to respond to them. Less internet, some with no phones, and those who are sick not the least bit interested in responding right about now because they have FAR more important issues to deal with.

So the polling results will be based on those who are not affected, who are not quarantining (or refuse to for whatever reason), and those who are still heading to the office to get paid despite pleas that they take social distancing seriously. That is, more likely that they will include a cohort who might blindly support Trump and his crazy pro-market-forces stance (Trumpanzees) and be prepared to respond to polling.

So there seems to be a case for saying that the random sampling is not actually random. It is biased by having a non-random sampling population, skewed towards those more likely to favour Trump.

I agree, but his brain is experiencing decline. Stress can speed that up a bit.

IMO:
Somehow I doubt stock investors are Trump's core base. They obviously enjoy the benefits and support him for that. But Trump's fantasy the country can just magically reopen by Easter, some of the GOP whackjobs in the legislature might buy the fantasy. But those pension managers, not so much fantasy and wishful thinking.

Besides, Trump caanot open up the country. It's the Governors and Mayros who will decide that.

And, it's only a fantasy. I wish more people would recognize that.

Not that Trump doesn't act on his fantasies of course. He already did and that's why we are in the mess we are currently in.

You would think that they would be smart enough to recognize the problems with the economy caused by an uncontrolled virus... but markets have also gone up when Trump first took over, and although he did cut taxes and regulations, those would have provided at best a temporary boost (and made later recessions much worse).

If stock traders were smart, they would recognize how inept Trump was the moment he won the election, and the markets would have started to drop right away.

Trump tweets that it is the media that want to keep the country closed:

"The LameStream Media is the dominant force in trying to get me to keep our Country closed as long as possible in the hope that it will be detrimental to my election success. The real people want to get back to work ASAP. We will be stronger than ever before!"

Yep. Remember when the candidate promised (among other things) "great health care [coverage], at a fraction of the cost"; and, for people who couldn't afford the coverage at all, that "the government is going to pay for it"? I'll bet a lot of people who believed those promises and voted accordingly are wishing now the President would have been dong more than just mouthing words; and I'd bet there are lot of insurance companies who are smirking now because they knew all along that mouthing words is all it ever was.

Except for those of you who will have caught the virus and died as a result of 'opening the country' too soon.

Trump can only affect Federal employees and institutions. He cannot order states or cities to cancel lock downs, etc.

Dear lord- now one idiot is channeling the original one. I always kind of wondered what it would have been like if McCain (who I otherwise respected) had beaten Obama, then died in office, leaving Palin as President. Now I guess I know.

"LameStream"? "detrimental"?? Big words!

Given Trump's current performance at a lectern where he can barely stand up straight, focus, and read huge-font type, I'm willing to bet he never composed this tweet. Not even close.

It sounds like his swivel-eyed (non-)Press Secretary, but taking bets on other candidates!

Beat me to it. He is going to kill you all.

The support for Trump in this crisis is rather poor. It's barely over 50%. And 538 poll of polls still shows only 45% support overall for Trump. It barely went up 2% in a time of crisis. Almost nobody changed their mind about him.
