The Trump Presidency: Part 20

The pandemic is not his fault. His incompetence managing the crisis is and that added to the problem.

Yeah, maybe you should just sit this one out. Your TDS is clouding your judgment.

Wow, Trump's going crazy. No surprise with his ignorance. So now Chinese nationals coming from China are banned from the US.

But what's he going to do when the virus spreads in multiple countries? Ban half the world from entering the US?

He's probably just trying to save himself.

I guess Mexico will have to build a wall to stop migrant caravans from bringing disease and crime into their country.

- Trump's actions prior to 2019 (deregulation, tax cuts/massive deficits) had over-stimulated the economy, meaning that the previous economic 'boom' was in some ways a 'bubble'. The current economic drops are in some ways an over-due correction, although Trump's previous actions are going to make it harder to deal with the future economic problems.

It's also his fault in that, by pushing for massive tax cuts and lower interest rates at a time they weren't needed, those tools are essentially worn out now that we actually do need them to try to limit the failure of the economy. That's all on him, no way to blame that on Obama, the virus or the Chinese.

- His repeated lies have probably caused a certain amount of uncertainty regarding the stock markets (as well as among consumers). If you can't trust information coming 'the top' you are more likely to act irrationally

Indeed this is a huge problem. Investors aren't stupid, and they heard the warnings coming from legit sources. And then they heard the bluster from trump and they could see he was not capable of any leadership. If you can give everyone a reassurance that we can get through this and there is a plan, people will be more optimistic. If this message is, this guy is a blowhole who doesn't have a clue, the optimism isn't quite there.

Leadership. It matters.

And your boot licking is clouding yours. Perhaps you should sit this one out and let someone else carry the water this time.

I'm not sure if people have seen this but here's a video of a conservative group targeting Trump for being a lying ******* douche.

I guess if I'm going to lick anyone's boots, it may as well be Dr. Anthony Fauci's. I highly recommend clicking the link, you may actually learn something.

ETA: you linked to a "conservative group" started by Bill Kristol? That's who you are using to back up your arguments? LOL, too funny!

I' m shocked Bill took the time to stop trying to lie us into another quagmire to rag on Trump. Maybe if Trump invades and occupies a Middle East country sitting on a lot of oil they can become best friends.

When we array the flat out retarded, paranoid, fact-deprived things that Trump has foisted since day one, only the most devout cultists -- of which there is no shortage -- are able to maintain the illusion that the emperor wears so much as a stitch of clothing.

It would be sooooo easy for Trump to look like a bit presidential, if he just stopped ******** on everyone not actively praising him.

Every single thing Trump says or does confirms that he's a know nothing know it all with the emotional maturity of a spoilt toddler. In the face of that overwhelming evidence, it's only believing otherwise that can be called TDS.

Well, at least everything except for the travel bans linked above. And the dozens of other things medical experts have said was the right thing. Other than those, I'm sure you're totally right.

I like this argument:

"He did one thing right. So that means everything he's done is great. Nevermind the ******* dozens of other complete and total **** ups he's committed. He blocked the Asians, 4tw!"

Tremendous speech! tremendous president! Tremendous truckers bringing tremendous amounts of toiler paper to tremendous Wal Marts. Tremendous virus, now harnessed to get Tremendous President re-elected. Wartime president attacking initially hoax virus, now tremendously serious. :jaw-dropp

In today's press briefing, the officials have been reduced to grinder monkeys, required to inform the public of how awesome Dear Leader is.

"Today's"?

Going on right now.

Trying to frame it as an external threat is nauseating.

It reminds me of the trope: “The calls are coming from inside the house!”

Every time Trump and his flunkies brag on stopping Chinese travel early on, I want to add “BUT IT DIDN'T WORK!!!” Stipulated it may have delayed our outbreak, in the long run I don’t think it had much of an effect on “flattening the curve”, just delaying it. Which could have been valuable had the time gained had been spent intelligently. But was it?

It’s spooky watching with the cases and deaths updating real time on the screen - US deaths just jumped from 197 to 204, with total cases up to 15,771.
