The Trump Presidency: Part 20

Trump is now calling himself a Wartime President - which actually isn't that far off the mark.

This crisis might very well be the thing that gets him a second term, even though his administration is largely to blame for the lack of preparedness.

And who else was a wartime president - Stalin!

More and more, I get the feeling that trump is going to suffer. People are irrational and people are going to get angry, and the administration in charge at the time of that anger will be to blame. I think it will be that simple.

If many people die, or lose their jobs in numbers, it won't matter whether there is a mitigating argument about whether more could have been done. Any perceived failing in the timeline of the crisis that resulted in hardship will make people angry at whoever is in charge.

I think you underestimate how deep partisanship runs. Just today I saw a tweet from someone saying that the Democrats have messed this crisis up terribly by not doing what the Republicans would have done - handing out food and supplies to every American.

It's easy to blame "others", and the current leadership actively encourages that. It's even easier if blaming the actual people to blame would involve admitting to yourself that you were wrong. And the more vociferous your support was, and the more time and energy you put in to it, the harder it is to say "oh, maybe Trump wasn't God Emperor of the United States after all".

Well, good for Trump, but unfortunately the principled free market Republicans will fight tooth and nail against sending free money to all people...

Cain? You look different today.

Well, I couldn't resist the tempation :) Not like it wouldn't have been obvious since the late 90's that their only truly prescious heartfelt principle is to profit themselves. There seems to be no limits for them.

US President Donald Trump retweeted a graphic image of what appears to be a dead body during an online rant about Nancy Pelosi.

I have been trying to learn more about the images Trump retweeted back in mid-January but there are few news reports I can find, none by U.S. media. Here's a news report from Haaretz, the Israeli newspaper.
U.S. President Donald Trump retweeted on Monday a photoshopped image of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer dressed in traditional Islamic garb, standing behind the flag of Iran. Following the tweet, Jonathan Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League slammed Trump. "It's outrageous that @realDonaldTrump elevated such repulsive anti-Muslim bigotry. #Islamophobia is offensive & unbecoming of any leader, let alone @POTUS. When #hate & division are on the rise, this is the opposite of what we need from the President. An apology is in order ASAP," Greenblatt wrote.

Trump also retweeted an image of what appeared to be a dead corpse with text that read: "Question: Who in America supports this mullahs' crime? Answer : Nancy Pelosi." The tweet later appeared to be taken down. Link

Who is scarecr0_w, the originator of the tweet? Apparently a young Iranian who posts on Twitter in Farsi language. Most of the Tweets are about Iranian domestic issues. However, his tweet has images of the U.S. flag and the Israeli flag, so who knows who they really are.

How did Trump find the tweet? I'm still trying to get my mind around this. The president of the United States retweeted an image of a dead body draped over a fence with the words Nancy Pelosi supports the crimes by the Iranian mullahs. Trump retweeted this, presumably, from the White House itself. How crazy is Trump? This is normal behavior? For a president? For anyone? Have our standards fallen that low in four years that we expect less from the president than we would from a co-worker or family member? Apparently they have.

A living nightmare. :(

I think Trump is at the point where he usually declares bankruptcy and runs away.

The silly would be autocrat is now tweeting about us being in this together. I will never be in anything together with Trump! You President Twitter quarantee over there (or fly to Mar a Lago) I will quarantee here.

Like Sir Robin, he bravely runs away.

God I hope not he is making me money,
I bet he would be Impeached, in 2015,
I bet he would Collapse the Ecconomy durring a national depression and that the Republicans would tar and feather him figuratively in 20/20.

Easy to see that all happening when you realize the GOP pulled him out of Alex Jones's Butt Crack and put him in the white house.

If anyone who works for the company I work for did this and were found out, they'd be fired. Unfortunately, we can't fire him until November.

Absolutely. It looks more like the kind of thing you would expect a high school student to do. You know, the weird guy that everybody avoids.

It's scary to think the person who retweeted this is the same person who has their finger on the nuclear trigger. What won't he do?

Probable reaction from Trump supporter:
"So what? We just start all over."

This is where we are. This is where Trump has taken us. :(

"If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed... and we will deserve it," South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham said.

It took a deadly pandemic and a worldwide economic shutdown to bring Trump's economy back down to Obama levels.

That's like saying charging stuff you can't afford on the credit card works until you lose your job and can't make the minimum payments.
