2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker Part III

I question my assessment of Trump at least weekly. I even adjust it from time to time.

I'm very skeptical of that last part....Maybe next time you won't question another poster when he expects Trump to taunt one of the other candidates? If you haven't figured out by now that that's what Trump does....repeatedly.....then maybe you aren't adjusting your assessment enough.

Sorry. I meant your skepticism about whether I adjust my assessment of Trump isn't that important.

Oh, then that's a mistake on your part, as your assessment of Trump is years behind if you have to question the likelihood of him taunting an opposing candidate....Evidently I could teach you something about how to properly assess him.

They aren't going to vote for Trump, but I think some will stay home.

Some might. But I have serious doubts it will be statistically significant. Where people are at in July, August, September, October, November will be very different.

Maybe, maybe not.

Remember, in 2016, Clinton got a strong majority of the African American vote, but the total number of votes she received was less than what Obama received 4 years earlier, even though Trump was a well-known to be a racist at the time. Those lost votes would have been useful in some of those tight victories that Trump won by only a few thousand votes.

True, but now there are 4 years of Trump to assess as a known quantity. Hopefully that will get the numbers back up. But who really knows, right?

Luckily it's not that important.

Anyway, let's see...

A bunch of candidates have dropped out. Biden is skipping to South Carolina, probably to get a head start on dropping out there. Klobuchar is now a thing, for some reason. And Bernie is doing surprisingly well - perhaps worryingly well.

I've read that too Seg. But I think Wesley gets it right.

People are measuring situations of the past thinking they can draw parallels. The variables are too many and too different to make an educated guess. Or at least that is my opinion.

Jon Ralston named as one of the debate moderators for the Las Vegas debate later this month.

Jon Ralston is also known as the journalist who invented and spread the lie that Bernie Bros were throwing chairs at the 2016 NV convention.

Snopes verifies that Ralston made this up and no chair was thrown, but it was spread around the media as fact.

Snopes did not verify he made it up. They actually provide evidence he didn't

As it turned out, Ralston finally admitted that he hadn’t seen this himself but was relying especially on local reporter Andrew Davey. Davey first said he had still frames showing the chair throwing which he would publish. He has not produced the stills in question, but did retweet a still image of a chair held high that was initially posted on Reddit.

It appears Andrew Davey would have been the one to make something up, if it was made up (depending on what you mean by made up).

Admit it or not, "Pocahontas" is absolutely brilliant.

Tonight he called MayorCheat by a nickname for the first time: "Bootedgeedge". This foreigner doesn't get it.

I'm waiting for Trump to use a word that could be considered homophobic and/or a pejorative for gays in reference to Mayor Pete.

Sometimes I believe he knows enough to show restraint in such an area, but then again....

Maybe he will just dig whistle it. “I like Pete. He’s a fabulous guy...” *looks at camera and raises eyebrows* “a fabulous guy!”

That's funny, because I've seen you make essentially the same post (questioning others' assessments of Trump) on many occasions.
It's a point of mild curiosity for me. Sometimes I inquire, but it's not a big deal to me whether I get a reply or not.

Projection?
I doubt it. Anyway, let's not turn a passing remark into a derail of the thread. A conversation about 2020 Democratic Candidates doesn't really need three more pages of this.
