2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker Part III

It’s not simply the campaign. The man himself is inadequate.

Yes, and that.

Makes me feel better a bunch of rich donors wasted their money on this. Wonder what Biden is going to do with the war chest. He's not going to need it after he drops out.

I suspect that Biden was always a paper tiger. All indications are that he ran a terrible ground game in Iowa. Many reports of a very light campaign schedule and fairly poor enthusiasm and turnout for regular voters.

Early polling doesn't mean much because most people aren't really interested enough in politics that far out. When people started to really pay attention, the inadequacies of the Biden campaign became glaring.

He wasn't trying to run an effective ground game in Iowa. He was husbanding money for latter states. Maybe a bad strategy, but not consistent with being a bad candidate.

Here is your reminder that the most moderate candidate is favored by the population progressives are supposed to be woke about.

I wonder if his drop in popularity happened because of Trump's nonsense about his son and Ukraine, or if it would have happened anyway.

It could have been planned by Trump and pals. But one thing is guaranteed, Trump will definitely use "but Ukraine" in place of "but her emails" if Biden is the candidate. It has been useful enough for him. Trump does not deal in facts, only these tweet size phrases. Trump is a brand. Meaning is irrelevant, he can only convince voters who never read stuff well and vote by gut feel.

That is so weird. Why would it be so different?

The black folk do thin out a bit as far North as Minnesota. The news stories run some cases she was involved with as prosecutor.

I may be prejudiced here, but my feel is that black voters vote a lot more based on friends and neighbors than the press or TV ads. She probably has not reached the black voters by whatever means the info reaches them. We have democrats in the county I live in that capture pretty much all the black votes for city council and state senate. The candidates are known locally. Amy is in far away Minnesota to the main bulk of blacks. Chicago would be the nearest large black population.

Pocahontas!

He tweeted that one again last night.

Will Klobuchar and Buttigieg start earning their own childish references by the tweeter in chief?

Either that or his strategy of campaigning as Grandpa Simpson.

I don't even think anyone cares about his son and Ukraine (I could be wrong). I just think that he generates no enthusiasm, his debate performances have been rambling, he looks terrible, he talks like someone who was old fashioned in the 1950s, and maybe also there being other, fresher, choices for voters (such as Buttigieg or even Klobuchar).

Curious where the "anti-malarkey" single issue voters are going to end up. I hear they won't break bread with "dog-faced pony soldiers".

A smart candidate trying to woo the Biden crowd should just spam Turner Classic Movies channel with ads.

I know at least 75,000 black people have been added/moved to Minneapolis since the 80s. That is a third of the Minnesota black population.

There might be some threshold of black population where the black population gets more involved in politics. Missouri and Illinois are above that, with blacks very involved in city politics. And state level, they have a presence. Claire Mc Caskill had to have good relations to black politicians to get elected.

I agree.
I don't think the Ukraine stuff had much to do with this.
Biden is simply showing his age too much. It is becoming apparent that he won't be able to make it to the finish line under his own steam.

Trump took office at 70. Voters don't care as much as we're thinking.

They don't care about actual age. Trump generated enthusiasm. That is without doubt. And Trump was energetic. Despite being a lardball running on fast food, he did run an energetic campaign.

Biden, on the other hand, just seems old and confused. I think voters do care about that.

It is <sniff> amazing just how <sniff> energetic Trump was <sniff> during the campaign <sniff> for his, uh <sniff> age.
