Trump keeps proving he has no morals and certainly is not consistent with principles that America has been dedicated to. Threatening to attack cultural sites? That's no better than the Taliban destroying thousand year old monuments.

Brooklyn is so in the bag for Trump that he can't understand that any claim the US might have for any moral authority goes down the drain with Trump's actions.

I gave 20 years of blood and sweat to this country in support of the ideals it was founded on. And Trump is consistently taking a dump on top of all of that and telling me that the government gives less than a **** about the ideals it was founded on.

It says something about the mentality of the Trump supporters that they consider Trump and the US to be one and the same.
Though in the few minutes since the air base attack, at least one person on this forum has said he is rooting for the Iranians.
Of course he is playing right into Trump's hands with that....

I can't say that I'm upset - mostly because I'm not even slightly surprised. The Pentagon's not up to speed because it was supposed to be hit with heavy snowfall, we're missing all kinds of secretaries in key positions and senior Pentagon officials have been leaving in part due to leaving the Kurds to be slaughtered. Meanwhile, Suleimani's trained successor (Imagine that, he was mentoring someone to step in if he died, something Dolt 45 can't seem to comprehend!) is even more hardline than he was, and the idiot gave them the initiative.

I can't stand with the religious fanatics that rule Iran, because they're attacking *my* country. But I can't stand with the idiot in the WH, because I expect him to make an incredibly bad choice at every turn. *shrug*

It's not an appeal to follow your country no matter what, it an appeal to fix **** when it goes wrong instead of abandoning the country. This is why 'patriots' like to omit the 2nd half, they'd have to admit that their country is in the wrong sometimes.

Irrelevant, whatever reason they had to grant the right to the people, at no point did they state that was a limit. They gave a reason and the rule. They never said the rule is bull if the reason is moot.

Your country, certainly. The majority of people in any country are basically decent. That holds for Iran, too. Supporting one's country is really standing with your fellow citizens in the aggregate.

But one man leading a Nation is *not* the Nation.

How far are you prepared to support your country when it's in the wrong. Hitler's internal opponents who plotted against him also said, at least early on, "My country, right or wrong." Would you oppose Trump if he did something sufficiently wrong? Or are you of the mindset that the Nation and its Leader are inseparable?

I've always despised the idea of American exceptionalism. It lacks integrity and intellectual honesty. We're not perfect. We make mistakes. We're human. It's a head in the sand approach to the world.
