The Trump Presidency: Part 18

Disagree. I think he's talking about carbon emissions from the manufacture of turbines. And he really means the world is tiny, thus all the bad fumes are hurting it.

Wind power has the smallest carbon footprint compared to other energy sources, according to the Department of Energy. A 2014 study additionally found that after operating for five to eight months, the average wind turbine will have offset the energy expended during its manufacturing.

The same study noted that "wind turbines produce energy with virtually no emissions." According to the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, coal-powered electricity releases about 20 times more greenhouse gas per kilowatt-hour than wind.

I take it as axiomatic that Putin doesn't experience shame. Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he's driven by shame over the failure of the great Soviet experiment. Despite its lofty (stated) ideals the wheels fell off and he now is the scion of an empire that crashed hard after just 70-odd years. He wants to strike back.

But he certainly doesn't experience shame over manipulating the U.S.
Putin has a number of billion reasons not to feel any shame.

Crashed hard? Nonsense. Russia is way stronger now than it was in 1917. Communism outlived its usefulness for sure, but the dissolution of the USSR was a good thing for Russia. For Putin it was a gold mine. He's filthy rich, his people love him, Russian pride is at its highest level since WWII, and his greatest enemy just elected an idiot for president - with a little of his help.

I bet Putin has a huge smile on his face every time he thinks about Trump and the US, as he watches our great experiment in democracy fail.

I'm just going back to something I asked three years ago: are we absolutely sure this whole Trump thing isn't an elaborate prank? Ashton Kutcher and some TV cameras aren't waiting to jump out and say we've been punk'd? Because I still think that's the most logically parsimonious explanation for all this.
I entertained the idea once, but that was before I got to know the real Trump. Like it or not, he exploited the weaknesses of our political system to install himself as king - and we only have ourselves to blame.

Reality TV is not a prank - it's big business - and Trump is just the logical conclusion of blurring the line between entertainment and reality. Combine that with the other big businesses of social media, crony capitalism and fundamentalist religion, and you get what we have now. We are not being punk'd, we're being exploited.

Yeah I'm sure everyone's forgotten about the impeachment because of his windmill rant.

It just got pointed out to me that windmills might actually be part of the War on Christmas!

Funny. I haven't seen our resident Trump backers defending their stupid ass, bat **** crazy president on his rant. Come on, tell us why idiot boy should still be president.

Give em more time. This is a tough one to spin. They are likely looking for a way to blame Hillary.

What's the goddamn mystery? It will either be pointless whataboutism or nihilistic contrarianism, and that's if we're even graced with a response from the two Trump supporters left who aren't just foaming at the mouth right wing paranoid delusion bingo cards.

I've never seen Trump and Andy Kaufman together at the same time.

This is truly "old man feeding the birds at the nursing home" level crazy. I couldn't possibly support a President like this and be able to look in the mirror.

You know those mirrors that make you look thinner than you really are? The Republicans have mirrors that make Trump look saner than he really is.

For sufficient money they will say anything. For a bit more they will believe it too.

I asked, too. No answer for some reason. Which is funny, if I supported a president who was this far gone I'd have reasons why, and wouldn't be afraid to state them out loud.

Edit: around his election victory the excuse was that he had skilled people around him who could advise him. Haven't heard that excuse in a while.
