The Trump Presidency: Part 18

Not being American, I don't get CSPAN. But do they always make it a point of covering presidential speeches? Or is this something unique to Trump?
Unfortunately, yes. Trump is the first one to hold a gazillion rallies.

They have been covering most of the Democratic candidates' town halls and other events as well as the debates. In 2016 it seemed like wall to wall Trump. That sucked because CNN was covering every minutes of Trump's rallies until they figured out they were being duped.

You can watch anything on CSPAN streaming live online.

Ninja'd by Bob001 and he did a better job. :D

To poke at a couple things of potential note...

Incarcerated people in West Virginia to be charged 3 cents a minute to read ebooks from free source

That's a bit of a WTF on its own, much as charging for things that cost the charging entity nothing is pretty much par for the course with telecom companies. It's a small charge, but for reference -

According to the Prison Policy Initiative’s 2017 estimates, incarcerated people in West Virginia earn between 4 and 58 cents per hour.

Which, itself, is quite problematic. Costs for other activities like... sending a text - are significantly higher.

"A senior Deutsche Bank executive who signed off on major Trump loans killed himself in California"

Suicide is claimed, unsurprisingly. To be fair, being one of the people who played a major role in getting Trump elected in a way that turned the spotlight onto problematic dealings and potentially crime involving you and your employer gives a plethora of reasons to be very unhappy with one's life. Still, any sudden deaths of people significantly involved in problem areas of a powerful figure's finances while those finances are under investigation is reason to be suspicious of claimed suicide.

Is this like an Epstein suicide?

Death by hanging, supposedly? So there are similarities. Still, details are still sparse by the look of it, and there's just not enough information to work with to form a meaningful opinion. That's unlike Epstein, where Barr unrecused himself to take a personal hand in a matter he should have been nowhere close to, there were testimonials from people close to Epstein that he wasn't suicidal, claims that other inmates heard a struggle, an examination that strongly suggested foul play rather than suicide, etc.

Well heck, we have another murder scandal in the WH. Is Ken Starr still available?

I wonder what the chances are that the Republicans blame this one on Secretary Clinton.
“Yeah, that’s the ticket. That guy was going to exonerate President Trump and implicate Killary, So she killed him. She killed him dead.”

Is it really much more ridiculous than the BS they’ve been spinning?

Trump is now saying Democrats are trying to change the name of Thanksgiving.

He also says "we're not changing it".

Moron. It's like the Christmas thing, except with a boring holiday. He probably doesn't know, but the names of holidays are not decided by presidential decree. It's mostly how businesses market them, such as the "happy holidays" meme.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that this is at least the 3rd suicide by high-ups at that bank, and one of the previous suicides specifically mentioned in his suicide note that he was killing himself because there were investigations into how his area of the bank operated.

Whether or not the suicides are actually suspicious, it is worth noting that this is the bank that was found guilty of laundering more than $80b of Russian mob money.

Let's not forget the Trump Hotels xmas card.

"Happy holidays"!

In other news, just because Trump's usual tweets aren't bizarre enough, there's now this one: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1199718185865535490

For those who don't want to click the link, it's Trump's head Photoshopped onto Rocky Balboa's body. There is no accompanying text or explanation of any kind.

Yeah that one's really weird. Obviously Trump isn't communicating that he has this sort of body. Is he casting himself as the plucky underdog?

I like to judge the impact of his Tweets by the number of comments they generate. This one definitely set a record. Upwards of 170K by now. Not many of them good, from what I can see.

Barron's a teenager, isn't he? He's not exactly in need of babysitters, and shortly he won't need to be in anybody's custody.

Eta: looked it up, he's 13. No need for babysitting, legal adult in five years.
It may be in bad taste to bring this up, but there's been a lot of speculation that he is in the autism spectrum. It strikes me as plausible, but of course I don't know.

Being shy or withdrawn might help dealing with that ******-up family.

ETA: And apparently he's now taller than Trump. Good.

No he is just Dumb, he couldn't figure out how Punch cards work https://images.app.goo.gl/WqsaRqSCSbE22aZK7and made all types of lies about Barrack Obama's Birth Certificate.
He Truly is a stable Genius saw many of them When I did a sculpture at a Horse farm in Lexington cleaning out the horse stalls. That's where he would be if not born into wealth.

Way to go Martin O'Malley. One of the filthiest pieces of Trumptrash out there got chased out of a bar by the former Maryland Governor. Cuccinelli the bastard partially responsible for family separation and got lit into by the former governor when he showed up at a popular Capitol Hill watering hole. One has to wonder what Cuccinelli was thinking, imposing his presence on decent people and real Americans. His kind should know better than to try to associate above their station.

Trump always gets owned by the replies on his Twitter account. He can't be reading the replies. Below is one I liked. Very on point. It was a reply to a doctor who wrote that as much as he disliked Trump's policies and actions Trump was obviously so broken inside that he couldn't help feeling sorry for him:
I feel sorry for him but I feel worse for the American people. Everything he touches gets destroyed. He’s a sickness. His religious base is beyond crazy. Why do they still like him. His rally in Florida was an abomination. He speaks as a crazy man speaks certainly not a President.
