Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

Lol, I just saw the caption about the vegan meal where Thunberg says "And of course La Vagabonde is an all vegan boat.' which is hilarious because that boat couple has a bunch of videos where they spear fish up on their Youtube.

The all vegan boat has to be faked up for the cameras.

Hey look, we're vegans but we murder animals for YouTube views.

They gotta get that crap off of the internet real quick.

ETA: forgot to mention the cow skull in the background.

I guess it's hard to be controversial when you're in the middle of the Atlantic.

And yet somehow she's managing:

Maybe the next few weeks won't be as boring as we thought!

I hope not, otherwise we'll be stuck reviewing the 2040 movie posted earlier in the thread, it's rather Thunbergian. I like the first five minutes, the drone phone to eliminate selfie sticks and the stick on flexible tablet computer.

Why the film maker had to fly to Bangladesh to demonstrate a microgrid with small solar arrays and car batteries replacing kerosene lanterns rather than simply save the jet fuel, stay in Australia and use remote communities using a microgrid and powerwalls to replace diesel generators is a burning question.

Or there's this, from our friends in Germany.

Thanks. I agree. Vegan diets are generally not good for small children.

For those who didn't pay close attention: Our deeply disturbed brave campaigner this thread is devoted to is now on a boat trip across the Atlantic with her father, some kind of handler from the UK, the Australian "youtube couple" that runs the boat and the latter's newborn child.

Another grade school level opinion? Or another pathetic attempt at wit? Nothing to criticize - make something up! She really is an obsession for you.

It is a a thing called a joke.

But I appreciate some people are to obsessed with things to not be able to detach for a moment of relax.

It's a matter of science, not a binary right it wrong. It's a progression of gathering evidence and refining what we best know with that evidence. Climate science and it's predictions of global warming has been remarkably accurate.

Then you should explain that to lomiller who presented it as a binary ' right it ( or? ) wrong ...

Science can always be wrong. Evolution could be wrong, this doesn’t mean the “questions” young earth creationists have about it are valid. The crackpots are always “asking questions” this doesn’t mean they are engaging in skeptical inquiry.

What matters isn’t whether science “could be wrong” but what the evidence says. In this case, there is no evidence to support the belief that CO2 sensitivity is lower than the accepted range. The belief in lower CO2 sensitivity is pseudoscientific because it runs counter to all lines of scientific evidence.

That makes sense.. The argument you were making that I responded to, didn't..

It absolutely was an attempt at a joke The important thing about jokes is that they need to be funny. You want people to laugh with you, not at you.

I know what you mean about people not being able to relax. As I sit here in front of the fire with my feet up, sipping on my JW Black, and reading inane comments on the internet I feel a certain sympathy for those people.

I think we all worked out you didn't find it funny.

No need to write a whole paragraph to explain how not sensitive you are about jokes referencing her foot stomping over acted UN speech

Wow are you ever confused. The topic of the thing you wrote that you claimed was a joke was meal she ate on the boat. And now you are claiming it was about her UN speech? Oh I get it. It is intended to be another joke. If so it is even poorer than your last attempt. You missed my whole point about funny.

You understand I was just trying to help you understand how jokes are supposed to work? You apparently are willing to keep trying so I wish you success. If it’s ok with you I will continue to comment as I see necessary. Looking forward to your next attempt.

I recommend a good glass of scotch in front of the fire. Relax and maybe the funny will come more naturally.

Yes.

That was what it was referencing

You have stolen my dreams and my childhood.

You have stolen my tofu in my vegan meal

Normally people don't have to point massive neon signs at it

I apologise. You obviously couldn't get the reference

You are right. I did not get the reference because, contrary to some opinions here, this “Greta worshiper” doesn’t hang onto her every word. Now that you have provided context I will revise my opinion and concede that your joke posts that I commented do contain some element of humour.

I hope you can see that your joke posts do appear rather odd to people who don’t follow Thunberg’s every word with the dedication that you seem to.

Fair call

All good

It probably was a bit subtle.

Greta Thunberg to guest edit BBC Radio 4's Today programme

Greta Thunberg is to swap leading the global fight against the climate crisis for the more stressful experience of directing a group of high-profile BBC presenters, after being announced as one of this year’s guest editors for Radio 4’s Today programme.

The environmental activist will take control of an episode of the BBC’s flagship radio news programme at the end of this year, speaking to leading figures in the fight against global heating and hearing from indigenous, frontline activists. Thunberg, who led school strikes around the world, has also commissioned reports from the Antarctic and Zambia, as well as a Mishal Husain interview with the governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney.
