House Impeachment Inquiry

Treat the inquiry like Wrestlemania. Fun fact: There's a Wrestling Hall of Fame. Another Fun Fact: Donald J. Trump has been inducted into it.
Technically there are multiple "Wrestling Halls of Fame". Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, in their "celebrity wing". (Trump has appeared on several WWE pay per views.)

The thing is, the WWE Hall of Fame is not voted on by fans or impartial experts. The decision on who goes into the Hall is decided on by the main owner of the WWE, Vince McMahon, who is on friendly terms with Trump. (He has given money to the Trump foundation, and Vince's wife Linda McMahon served in Trump's cabinet for a while, before switching over to Trump's re-election campaign.

I do wonder what will happen if Trump should actually get impeached then convicted. Will the WWE 'remove' Trump from their hall of fame? Will he quietly be swept under the rug (as Hulk Hogan was when his racist statements became public)?

They will probably hire him to appear in more pay-per-views.

Sondland: "He (Zelensky) had to announce the investigations. He didn't actually have to do them, as I understood it."

As has been frequently pointed out on this forum, Trump didn't need any actual dirt on the Bidens to accomplish his election campaign objective. So much for the "fighting corruption" defense. How will the Party of Trump defend against this evidence of corrupt intent? I think a Twitter wag (whom I don't remember now) put it best when he said it's pointless to expect a rational defense; their defense has always been and will continue to be "**** you!"

I'm rather concerned about things. Important things. The reason I'm concerned about these important things is because they are rather concerning.

One of the important things that most concerns me is an anonymous person on the internet misspelled the name of a congress person from Texas. I'm concerned enough about this perplexing and egregious gaffe to raise this rather concerning issue on a discussion forum for skeptics.
If that's all you've to to work with, then you have to go with that.

An epic fail by a Trumpite:
Listen to Sondland and you'll understand why America elected Donald Trump president to get rid of people like Sondland.

Since deleted, of course.

ETA: He hasn't deleted the double-down yet!

This reminds me of a point I've been meaning to bring up. Many of the witnesses have been career diplomats. It's all to easy for the Trumpites, like Bozell, to simply label them, or indeed any career civil servant as part of "the swamp", or the Deep State.

I've always assumed that Hunter Biden being on the board of a random Ukranian corporation was hard to explain without some level of corruption somewhere.

Probably not illegal or anything. Just standard stuff for the children of powerful people that others want to associate with in order that maybe down the road blah blah blah.

That is how you do avoid the quid pro quo thing yet stay in the grift.

Which is why Trump probably assumed something illegal was going on. He (we think) has a lot of money but he has no idea whatsoever how the ruling class works and the rules it plays by and how the laws protect them.
Nepotism and influence peddling are rife throughout the political culture. Not illegal but unethical for sure.

I find it disgusting the way the Republicans are comporting themselves during the hearings. Their claims that there is no evidence of a quid pro quo/bribery is ludicrous as it's been corroborated by so many very credible witnesses. It's "protect Trump at all costs" and all else be damned. If there were a video of Trump saying "Zelensky can't have the money until he gets me dirt on Biden", they'd still be denying he'd done anything wrong.

It sucks but it's effective. As Zigg posted, people believe it. The GOP knows that this is a public trial, not a fact based trial. If they can convince the electorate that there is nothing wrong, then they won't suffer any problems.

Exactly people just accept that it is a presidential prerogative to extort foreign countries for personal gain. Just like obstructing justice, and self dealing for profit.

My despair is deepening.

Jordan just misrepresented what Pelosi said about Trump being an imposter. He claimed she called him an imposter meaning he wasn't a legitimately elected president. In fact, this is what she said:

Then the speaker unloaded, going right after Trump’s ego, saying, “I think part of it is his own insecurity as an imposter. I think he knows full well that he’s in that office way over his head. And so he has to diminish everyone else.”

In context, she's saying he's not a competent president; he doesn't know what he's doing. She said nothing about his being illegitimately elected. But this is what Jordan does so he can act outraged.
