The Trump Presidency: Part 18

That time is actually needed. There is a lot of people that need to be vetted. Although I do believe there should be restrictions on what an outgoing Congress and administration can do during that period.

I sure hate the idea of what mischief batcrap crazy Trump could inflict on the country during that period.
In the UK we can set up and run an election campaign in about 2 months, not two years. And if the PM loses they are out the door of No 10 the same night or next day basically. Now I am not saying that we don't have some areas where the handover may be a little protracted but essentially we seem to get things done quicker. Same is true for most of Europe. Doesn't mean the outcomes are any better (Brexit, Orban, Italy) but the USA sure seem to like to drag things out.

In the UK we have an apolitical Civil Service which just carries on as ministers come and go. I gather it's very different in the US, with Presidents making thousands of political appointments which an incoming President has to replace.

In America the campaign season literally never ******* ends and I seriously think it's driving this country crazy.

There is no whistleblower statute that permits an unelected and inferior federal employee to blow the whistle on the president, the most superior officer in the U.S. government... https://thegreggjarrett.com/whistle...n-informant-acting-as-a-democratic-operative/

And these inferior beings must never point out that the emperor is naked. The president has explained that only true patriots can see the stupendously wonderful and elegant clothes, which are more wonderful than any emperor that ever came before him. Except maybe Lincoln (but not really).

Maybe he thought it was a giant piñata?

I saw a segment on Telemundo TV several years ago. On the 'funny home movies' program. A family in Mexico -- Dad looked like a young professional guy -- had a birthday party for their son. Included was a traditional pinata, but made up to look like Donald Trump. The birthday boy was a shy 8-year-old and he didn't understand that he was supposed to whack the pinata hard. He was hitting it so softly it didn't break. His father laughed and said, "No, no, you have to hit it hard." Finally Dad took over. He swung the bat really hard, the pinata tore open spilling all the goodies inside. But then something happened. Dad got visibly upset and began swinging the bat again and again at the Trump pinata laying on the ground. Finally his wife intervened, saying, "Sweetie, come on stop. Stop, please!" Dad looked embarrassed.

It was very funny.

I can see a potential redesign in the works, a Baby Trump baloon with air-tight compartments. It might take a bit longer to pump up, but it would be much harder to puncture and deflate

Yeah, but isn't a deflating Baby Trump balloon a more appropriate metaphor anyway?

Ours is still fairly apolitical once you go below the rank just under the positions needing confirmation.

This is being eroded by increasing use of "did not refuse the pro-forma resignation they offered during the transition" type shenanigans, however. It's been death of a thousand cuts under this administration by adding on a healthy lumping of "did not fill the position that got left open." Essentially our government is being gutted by simply not acting at all.

Watch out Trump, the vapers are coming after you!

Could Trump's re-election go up in a puff of 'smoke'? Vapers say watch out.

WASHINGTON — They're here. They vape. And they say they'll vote you out of office if you come for their "unicorn poop" flavored vape juice.

Facing a perfect storm of threats from federal, state and local governments, vapers are banding together politically to defend a product that they claim saves lives and that has created a livelihood for some and way of life for others.

As the Trump administration prepares to roll out new rules as soon as this week on vaping in response to an alarming rise in teenage e-cigarette use and health concerns, hundreds of adult vapers gathered outside the White House on Saturday. They were there to convince people that President Donald Trump could lose his re-election if he alienates a growing constituency that is only just now becoming politically active.

Wow, the arrogance.

This is just Trump and the GOP trying to distract the public from Trump's offenses. Turns out this wasn't just a phone call, it was a months long effort with multiple principles involved.

ABC is as bad as the rest of them. Journalistic standards are nonexistent today. The press is so dishonest that we no longer have Freedom of the Press!

“What the hell are @ABC editorial standards? @ABC smeared Kavanaugh with 40 year old hearsay. No corroborating witnesses, no evidence, no pictures, nothing.” @JesseBWatters #EpsteinCoverup
