‪My thoughts are with the people of Chile.‬
‪I’ve been making my way through the North American continent towards Santiago, but as #COP25 will be moved I will now wait until I have more information...‬

Just thoughts? Pfff loser. Winners like Trump send thoughts AND PRAYERS!

Not a complaint or a criticism, just amusing:

"[M]aking my way through the North American continent towards Santiago" is an interesting way to put it. Mental image of a kaiju tunneling under the western US, before stopping to check a map and seeing that Santiago, is on another continent, and not even in the same hemisphere. "I should have taken a left turn at Albuquerque."

Apropos amusing, I'm just back from the city doing some shopping (by foot, as most often), where I was sitting on a bench contemplating the world when a car passed in bumper to bumper traffic: some Habibi in a tuned Mercedes A-Class, lower wider harder louder, with some very ugly self-made decals on it, and while I thought how pathetic that car was, I saw a sentence in white ugly font on the rear bumper: "**** you G???" (the f-word), and I wanted to know what he cared to tell the people behind him - at first I read "gods", but that was unlikely given the driver. Second look, yes it was "**** you Greta". :D

Sounds petty. What does this have to do with anything?

There's a moral question, relating to the survival of humanity, in accepting or not accepting the award. A good editor would have understood that the logistical issue is completely insignificant, compared to the moral issue, and shortened the statement to something more direct and impactful.

As long as we can fault her for something it's okay.

If my daughter was travelling the world, speaking to millions of people and possibly changing history, you can bet I'd want to be filming as much of that as I could.

Speaking to the world is great.

Big ups to her and her entourage, but I doubt there will be much changing history from it.

Ask that of all the supplicants who have been arguing that she doesn't, based on this particular press release.

No, that's one reason to not attend the ceremony.
Why would it be a reason to not accept the award?

Being in California was not a reason to not accept the award.
It was a reason for not attending the ceremony.

A coherent statement would have began:
" I have decided to decline the invitation to attend this ceremony . Here’s why: I am currently traveling through California and therefore not able to be present with you today. I want to thank the Nordic Council for this award. It is a huge honour.

I have also decided not to accept this prize. Here's why: (.. all that follows.)"

I think I figured it out:

"I can't get back in time to receive the prize; how can I spin this?" And then because she doesn't have an editor, instead of replacing "because I can't make it" with "because it's immoral", she accidentally left both explanations in the same draft when she hit Submit.

So today is Halloween. I don’t celebrate it back home, but I thought I might give it a try.
And apparently when it comes to scaring a bunch of angry climate crisis deniers - I don’t even have to dress up!! #trickortreat

Wow!

Someone better call the Centers for Disease Control, because that burn is sick.

Meeting with President Donald Trump is not on Greta Thunberg's to-do list.

The 16-year-old environmental activist shared on Friday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she doesn't have interest in meeting with the nation's leader.

"Do you ever think about – would you sit down with him to try to help him understand climate change?" the host asked.

"I don’t understand why I would do that," Thunberg said to laughter and applause from the audience. "I don’t see what I could tell him that he hasn’t already heard, and I just think it would be a waste of time, really."

Haha oh wow.

Telling people stuff they've already heard is literally her entire PR strategy.

As #COP25 has officially been moved from Santiago to Madrid I’ll need some help.
It turns out I’ve traveled half around the world, the wrong way:)
Now I need to find a way to cross the Atlantic in November... If anyone could help me find transport I would be so grateful.

I’m so sorry I will not be able to visit South and Central America this time, I was so looking forward to this. But this is of course not about me, my experiences or where I wish to travel. We’re in a climate and ecological emergency.
I send my support to the people in Chile.

(This of course no problem. People are suffering all around the world, and I’m fine whatever I do and wherever I am.)

Seems like the most ecologically conscious thing to do would be to stay in Sweden and do a live telecast to COP25. Powered by green electricity, of course.

Anyway, she's still got what? A month and a half, to figure out how to buy a plane ticket?

She flatters herself well, that is sure.

But yeah, being that the news is full of the unrest in four S. American countries right now her message would be drown out by the rioting. But the light from burning tires and trucks here and there isn't quite as she preaches either.

Maybe later....

Somebody will step up and charter Thunberg a yacht. So far she's done well traveling around with the aid of rich people, why stop now ?

DiCaprio. He can do it chartering a yacht for a month would be chump change to that guy.

This cancellation on COP25 in Chili would have been the perfect time to hold this thing via teleconference. But nope, these people all have to fly to their destination and these are the people we're supposed to be demanding to stop climate change for us ?
