No, please. Not a "rogue operation". Just a very poorly run one at the administrative end. So poor that they failed to follow the extant US law on such an op. I have no doubt those who they SHOULD have advised would have maintained secrecy and would not have objected. The op could have run just the same, with the same result.Enemy leaders are legitimate targets in a war situation, and both Bin Ladin and Baghdadi were self confessed enemies of the United States.
I find Norman's whole thesis this was some kind of rogue operation to be silly.
The only reason they didn't follow the US law was they wanted an exclusive "good Trump story" distraction from the current swamp he is bogging himself in. And also to pwn the Libs and Dems. A PR coup. Which is what Trump started crowing about immediately.
What a pity they forgot to cross the i's and dot the t's, though. Failure to follow the law, screwed up time-line for Trump being at the WH when it happened, fake photo op, fake story by Trump... What could have been a bit of a come-back sunk by piss-poor planning and execution. A typical Trump-team effort, to be frank.
