The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Some of the comments following the Tweet are worrisome. Trumpers bring up Steele and Clinton no matter how many times it is explained there is no equivalence.

False beliefs are so tiring.

In the face of overwhelming evidence of being wrong - they likely shut down rather than accept that they're wrong. Then when they reboot, it's as if they weren't shown to be utterly wrong. That's some of the horror of authoritarianism and religious fanaticism/extremism, unfortunately.

It's obvious. He doesn't have a clue about what else to do.

It's like that dumb letter he sent to Congress saying the White House etc was not going to cooperate. The legal rationale was ridiculous. I swear Trump's whole life has been a temper tantrum.

He didn't say anywhere in any of the ramblings I've read direct quotes of.

I mean he isn't, he's constantly threatening to sue his enemies and never does it, and he tossed out the "Impeach them" language in the same rant because he still doesn't understand that's not how that works, but it's still disconcerting where his mind keeps going.
That's his MO. He seems to have constant legal action happening and you can assume he is constantly demanding people get sued for something even if his legal team point out he can't do it.

So Trump's newest thing is he's going to sue Schiff and Pelosi.

For what? Being mean to him?

Yes. His apologists will likely dismiss it as just playing to his base -- as if spoon-feeding them BS and outright lies is okay -- but I believe he has become totally consumed with the revenge and retribution fantasies of a malignant narcissist with a deeply wounded ego, and he has literally become too delusional to realize how absurd he sounds. In what's left of his mind, he really does believe he should have the right to sue people for being mean to him, so he doesn't hesitate to say so. When the apologists have finished their rationalizing that it isn't really a problem, this is still a man with a serious mental illness.

ETA: And to be perfectly clear, it would be a considerably less serious problem if he was still a "reality TV" business superman and stable genius rather than the most powerful man in the world. People are literally dying because of whatever is going on inside this man's head.

He's spent his entire life being catered to and being given anything he wants. He never had to grow up past the level of the little kid who throws himself on the floor and starts screaming because someone won't buy him the toy he wants.

And it seems the Republicans in Congress are quite happy to go right on indulging him.

General principle.

It’s a shame, because our entire legal system is there to protect. But Trump discovered early on how effective it was to use it as a weapon, and it’s hard to argue it hasn’t worked for him so far. He actually sued Deutsche Bank for giving him a loan! Even when he’s ultimately ruled against, he succeeds in delaying consequences and often financially decimating those he takes to court.

And Vlady Manboobs Putin murdered innocent civilians and medical personnel in strikes on four hospitals in Syria yesterday. The Russian Whore in Chief is silent on it. No new sanctions, no condemnation, nothing about going to the UN. What a surprise. If Trump has to prostitute himself, could he at least find someone better than that disgusting **** Putin?

Oh and sure, voting for Trump isn't betraying your country. You Trump supporters keep telling yourselves that. Whatever you have to do to rationalize your treason.

He's not prostituting himself. That would imply he's simply being rented. Putin OWNS Trump.

Trump Tweets

The same people that got us into the Middle East Quicksand, 8 Trillion Dollars and many thousands of lives (and millions of lives when you count the other side), are now fighting to keep us there. Don’t listen to people that haven’t got a clue. They have proven to be inept!

Very smart not to be involved in the intense fighting along the Turkish Border, for a change. Those that mistakenly got us into the Middle East Wars are still pushing to fight. They have no idea what a bad decision they have made. Why are they not asking for a Declaration of War?

Do you remember two years ago when Iraq was going to fight the Kurds in a different part of Syria. Many people wanted us to fight with the Kurds against Iraq, who we just fought for. I said no, and the Kurds left the fight, twice. Now the same thing is happening with Turkey......

.....The Kurds and Turkey have been fighting for many years. Turkey considers the PKK the worst terrorists of all. Others may want to come in and fight for one side or the other. Let them! We are monitoring the situation closely. Endless Wars!

A strange part of this is, the background of Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president.
As a television actor in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky played an idealistic schoolteacher whose tirade against corruption is filmed by his students, winds up online and suddenly goes viral, propelling him to the presidency. The show was a comedy. But the message of fighting back-room wheeling and dealing proved so popular that Mr. Zelensky started a political party named after the program, “Servant of the People,” and ended up becoming Ukraine’s president for real — with a life-mimics-art campaign that built his image as an anti-corruption crusader. Link

Some described as bizarre Trump's clumsy efforts to smooth over Ukraine-Russian hostilities when Trump spoke at the UN and met with Zelensky. At one point Trump told Zelensky:
“I really hope that Russia—because I really believe that President Putin would like to do something—I really hope that you and President Putin can get together and solve your problem,” Trump said at the United Nations on Wednesday, as Zelensky sat stone-faced. Link

Some observers felt it was chilling that Trump seemed to be trying to minimize Russia's invasion of Ukraine by referring to it as "a problem" that Zelensky can "solve" by meeting with Putin. Trump said the Russian invasion of Ukrainian Crimea -- which has resulted in 1.5 million Ukrainians fleeing their homes and thousands of deaths -- was, "Just one of those things," which Trump said he blamed on Barack Obama.

Some mighty strange times we live in. It's 386 days until the election!

There really is no arguing against your observation.

He has an award-winning chef and a skilled team available every day but he sends people out to get him McDonalds food.

He is given intelligence briefings but won’t read them.

He cannot admit to even a small mistake.

He thinks he knows more than the experts he has working for him (e.g. the letter-of-intent confusion)

When faced with valid criticism, he has only two responses available to him: call people names or make up a story in order to accuse the other person of being jealous.

He cannot grasp that simple solutions to a complex problems often produce unintended consequences that were foreseen by knowledgeable, experienced people.

Any corrupt leader who flatters him has his instant loyalties.

There is a Twilight Zone TV episode, "It's a Good Life" in which a 6 year old boy with supernatural powers terrorizes his parents and the rest of his small town by making childish demands and doing horrible things to anyone who objects or resists. Everone also must constantly praise him, his actions, and tell him how happy they are.

Remind you of the Whitehouse? Except Trump is more like 4 years old.

What a monster his upbringing turned him into!

I've posted this same observation more than once! That episode should be required viewing in Trump 101 class.

Hmm who got sent to the cornfield today while I had the TV off...

Add:

Trump's odious characteristics are so multi-dimensional that he can't be embodied by any one fictional character. This is my ingredient list:

1. Biff, Back to the Future II, actually based on Trump

2. The kid from the Twilight Zone

3. Charlie the Tuna. Nobody is buying your act Charlie! Starkist doesn't want tunas with good taste. They want tunas that taste good.

4. Chauncey Gardner, Being There, less the endearing qualities. For obvious reasons.

5. Tommy Boy, less the endearing qualities, and less the expertly built product made in the USA.

I remember that, and remember that it truly scared me even though I was about 40 at the time ;)

Didn't he seal his sister's lips shut, because she annoyed him? Adam Schiff (at the moment)?
