The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Problem is except for his brain dead base, Trump accusing somebody else of lying just makes people l augh.
I am pretty sure he has supporters rolling their eyes as well. They just won’t publicly admit it.

General question: Has anyone besides Trump seriously called for an in-depth investigation of Ukrainian interference in the 2016 presidential election? I mean, shouldn’t GOP senators be loudly demanding this? As far as I know they aren’t. It’s like they know he’s spouting a load of BS. Hmm.

I really think his ham-fisted attempt to manipulate Ukraine using funds the GOP clearly wanted spent is going to piss off senators who have their own finely calibrated Ukrainian policies and don’t appreciate Trump ******* all over the message they are trying to send Russia. They may not be publicly condemning it, but I also haven’t heard Trump get any traction on his corruption claims. Romney at least is publicly scoffing at him. Romney got more votes in 2012 than Trump did in 2016. He may be the designated spearhead for GOP resistance in the Senate. Of course perhaps I am just succumbing to wishful thinking. But his tweets may be part of a broader strategic picture.

The Washington Times, “Ukraine envoy blows ‘massive hole’ into Democrat accusations. Republicans at hearing find no Trump Pressure.” The Ukrainian President also strongly stated that NO pressure was put on him. Case Closed!

Another Trump non-tweet. I'd bet it's that racist Steve Miller who wrote this. He's likely to be the type to read the Washington Times, not our Tweeter-in-Chief.

I think he will not vacate physically but will politically. We all KNOW he'll be screaming rigged election, probably even before the election itself. He'll try to force Barr to use the DoJ to file suit. Who knows how that will proceed.

Dismissed for lack of standing.

Without being exhaustive about it, I imagine standing for challenging the outcome of the election as a whole is limited to roughly those entities which report to the FEC (candidates, parties, and political committees) along with state Attorneys General.

The DoJ would file as representing Ttrump.

Mrs Don pointed out that President Trump has, deliberately or by accident managed to pull off two extraordinary moves.

By asking China to look into Joe Biden, this is no longer a sneaky act, it's now standard operating practice - not something that should trigger impeachment.
Oh yeah, no doubt. Trump has moved on from, I didn't do it, it's a conspiracy against me to, I did it but was perfectly legal

By keeping the Biden thing in the news, President Trump has ensured that everyone has had several days of "Joe Biden - Corruption" headlines. Even though the accusations are groundless, all the networks have been using those words in conjunction and a large number of people who aren't particularly politically interested will have the impression that there must be something to it.

The cherry on top of this whole pile of **** is that the Democrats cannot even use this playbook because time and again GOP voters have demonstrated that they don't care if their candidate is accused of being a rapist, conman, swindler or kiddie-fiddler, they'll still turn out and vote in numbers. :(
I don't buy it the Democrats can't respond. They don't respond and don't do any research on methods that would be effective.

The problem Biden has is his son followed him around to at least 2 countries and initiated business deals. I'm pretty confident it was all above board, but like Bernie tainting Clinton with the Goldman Sachs speeches, (which I think she had an excellent chance of dealing with but she didn't. She ignored the accusations altogether),Biden has to do more than pronounce there's nothing there.

He needs to spell out what I found, Biden got the bad guy fired, not the threat to his son. And then he needs to address why his son has all these high level jobs, coincidentally in places Biden was doing political business.

Or, he should point to Ivanka and China.

This isn’t about a Campaign, this is about Corruption on a massive scale!
As the President of the United States, I have an absolute right, perhaps even a duty, to investigate, or have investigated, CORRUPTION, and that would include asking, or suggesting, other Countries to help us out!

Projection anyone?

<snip>

Trump wins. He has a "technically correct" soundbite His base buys his "facts", they have complex truth.
Make that minor change and .,..
Not really.<snip>
turns into "really".

That matters because Dump's strategy for 2020 is not based on winning over Americans, it's to boost his base turnout enough to overcome the Dem turnout. Well, it's not Dump's strategy, it's just the way he operates which becomes his de facto strategy.

It doesn't matter. Trump can say he has the lowest unemployment numbers in decades, especially in the swing states, without technically lying.

The Democrats will counter with well thought out, detailed, and perfectly true, honest, and accurate and completely relevant discussion of under employment, how people dropping out of even looking for a job can affect those numbers, wage stagnation, wage inequality, increasing rental and mortgage prices, inflation, and the price of tea in China.

It doesn't have to be complex.

That is a cop-out for not hiring experts in advertising and messaging!

Under my Administration, Medicare Advantage premiums next year will be their lowest in the last 13 years. We are providing GREAT healthcare to our Seniors. We cannot let the radical socialists take that away through Medicare for All!
I'll post about it if my Medicare advantage rate goes down.

I have just officially nominated Poland for entry into the Visa Waiver Program. With this decades long-awaited announcement, we are in the final steps of the process which, when complete, would grant Polish nationals visa-free business and tourism travel to the U.S. & vice versa.
Yes! They're white aren't they?

“When your making an unsubstantiated charge that the President of the United States is making a request having to do with quid pro quo, this witness has blown a big hole into that statement. The Ambassador put a dagger in the heart of Schiffs fairytale.” Rep. Lee Zeldin
@FoxNews
Three years of certain corrections and he still doesn't understand the contraction of you are.

Maybe the two plans are different. Is there a "plan" for medicare for all or is it just an idea? Will Medicare for all raise taxes? That would be a difference.

Not defending Trump, I'm sick of him too.

To be fair, I found Warren announcing eliminating all private insurers problematic.

On the other hand, don't be sidetracked with the bull-****-shiny-squirrel of taxes going up. The Democrats should be marketing (prime the pump) where those taxes are coming from: your current health care costs, and the rich contributing more of their fair share.

I didn't, but honestly, I don't care as much about the specifics as the effects, so I'm more in the camp of "I don't care about that." I think that there's little chance of the more right-wing among the Democrats allowing that to actually happen, either way, and it does make a much better position to compromise from than starting at the furthest that one is reasonably willing to compromise to.

Warren and Bernie have been, of course, and working to focus the conversation on things that actually matter, like total costs and how efficient and effective it is. As for too many of the rest... I still don't see what good purpose there is long-term or even short-term, for Democrats to adopt misleading Republican framing and talking points.

In other news...

Right-wing smear networks are poised to attack any Republican who steps out of line on impeachment

Just in case you hadn't thought about it, yet.

Not that they're really going to stop doing crap like...

The 'wack job' who disrupted AOC's town hall was a far-right plant job

Yes. Right-wing trolls AOC with utterly bonkers nonsense, then the right-wing attacks her viciously for being trolled with utterly bonkers nonsense by the right-wing.
