In all the excitement Lindsey's patriotic gesture has gone unnoticed. In his best imitation Devin Nunes voice, Lindsey announced just before the rest of the story started breaking that he was going to impanel a star chamber Senate committee to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden.

Little did Lindsey and Mitch count on Rudy and Donnie going out and basically confessing their mis-deeds for all to see. It'll be interesting to see if the Republicans really start running away from DJT or if their vote for demanding full disclosure of the whistleblower complaint was smoke and mirrors, e.g. they already know that Trump had determined to have it released and they're trying to get ahead of the game for some street cred.

And in trying to "make a deal" with Pelosi to "work it out", Trump has outright confessed that the whistleblower story is effectively true as reported, if not in all details at least in the pertinent ones.

In effect, the President of the USA was offering the Speaker of the Congress a bribe to make his crime be dismissed. She knew that immediately, which is why she cut him off right away.

Thing is, Pelosi would have been certain to have that all recorded as an official communication of US government. I gather she would be required to do so with all official communications, and this could not have been more "official". So this, too, may appear in evidence in the near future.

This is the narrative that the Minority Leader also went with. They're going to trot out the tried and true "they're just sore losers" shtick. It's a hard sell this time, as the Dems are already countering it and "on message" that this is all from deeds the miscreant performed while in office and shows him already worked his same scam from '16 for the '20 election cycle. I've seen at least two interviews where the Dem spokesperson cut 'em off at the pass.

This is more like the old thief trick. Steal things from a person. If caught, preemptively and repeatedly scream out that the victim is actually a thief and you're the victim. Uninvolved people will tend to be deceived.

In short, it's a shameless and brazen lie.

Republicans who actually believe this nonsense may be projecting, but not Trump. Not McConnell. Not... just about any of the Republican lawmakers. They KNOW what's going on and, like the Big Oil execs, are entirely fine with playing dirty.

Because (shocker), they aren't one and the same.
 
The Guiliani interview actually makes more sense, now with context. DOJ, and therefore Trump, knew about the whistleblower complaint because the DNI improperly informed about it. Schiff has been aware of the complaint and steadily chasing it down since early September.

Trump and Guiliani knew that this is going to come out and they can't stop it, so they skipped all the denial steps and went straight to "we did it and it's actually fine that we did" step.

To the general audience, this Guiliani interview came out of left field, but things were happening behind closed doors all this month leading to that moment.
