She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!

”People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth.” Watch Greta Thunberg speak at the UN Monday morning. https://wired.trib.al/VXdAnKt

Sorry, is he mocking a teenaged girl?

When is that Presidential turn precisely?

That is presidential, just ask 90% of republicans. Waiting for insulting her looks myself, it seems odd for him to go after a woman and not do that after all.

“They gave one to Obama immediately after his ascent to the presidency, and he had no idea why he got it,” Trump said. “You know what, that was the only thing I agreed with him on.”

Obama penis envy (OPE) is a debilitating disorder afflicting 1 out of 45 American presidents. For the record, the Nobel committee said why they were giving Obama the prize: “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between people," and specifically for taking a leadership role in denuclearization and climate change abatement. Obama's efforts resulted in the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris Agreement on climate change. Obviously, it would be only fair to give Trump a prize for undoing those things.

Am I the only one that finds the bolded language troubling? Usually one talks about ascending to a throne, as in a monarchy. Don't know if i ever heard of ascending to presidency.

You can't do that. When you get behind a child as a mouthpiece you can't pearl clutch when someone is mean to the kid.

If she wants to play in the big stage, she's not going to get treated with kid's glove.

This is why it's bad form to use children in arguments, it automatically makes the other side the bad guy for not just taking their criticism without responding.

Horribleness of Trump and nobility of Greta notwithstanding.

Bullcrap. Trump can oppose what the young woman said without attacking her personally. He's the President of the United States not some boorish moron.

COme now his being a boorish moron is one of his most beloved traits. He is a real punch backer and he isn't going to let some kid get away. I mean that would be like not using your position as owner of the contest to barge into the changing rooms at miss teen USA.

But this is the guy who recently said, "When I took over the United States..."

Interesting that you work so hard to undermine her agency and competence when the criticism was the lack of substance in Trump's statement rather than a defence of her identity labels.

If you've heard her statements the last few days, she's been entirely clear about the idea of herself as a mouthpiece.

Haha, Greta Thunberg has changed her Twitter bio to: "A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future."

I hate to use these words, but they do apply: this is the worst thing the Trump Admin has done.

According to this story on CNN the Trump Admin decided to let a New York Times reporter get arrested in Egypt for having written a story unfavorable to the Egyptian Government.

Thankfully, when the NYT reached out to the reporters native country of Ireland, they quickly helped the reporter get out of the country.

"Two years ago, we got a call from a United States government official warning us of the imminent arrest of a New York Times reporter based in Egypt named Declan Walsh," Sulzberger said.
While these heads-ups are "actually fairly standard," this particular call "took a surprising and distressing turn," Sulzberger said. "We learned the official was passing along this warning without the knowledge or permission of the Trump administration. Rather than trying to stop the Egyptian government or assist the reporter, the official believed, the Trump administration intended to sit on the information and let the arrest be carried out. The official feared being punished for even alerting us to the danger."
So the Times reached out to diplomats in Walsh's native country, Ireland, and they took action: "Within an hour, Irish diplomats traveled to his house and safely escorted him to the airport before Egyptian forces could detain him."
Sulzberger added, "We hate to imagine what would have happened had that brave official not risked their career to alert us to the threat."

Trump's attacks on the press are monumentally disturbing. I am baffled that any Republican supporters can sit quietly and let this continue.

He already let one country get away with chopping up one reporter, what’s a mere arrest?

Republicans around here probably are fine with this given their constant bleats of ‘liberal bias’.

His buddy Dinesh D'Souza is doing the heavy lifting here, it seems:

(note the link doesn't see to include the picture, which was of a Nazi poster featuring a nordic girl with pigtails, next to a picture or Thunberg, who, not surprisingly since she's Swedish, is a nordic girl with pigtails.)

Can't view Twitter here. Summary?

A clip of Trump's (bad) speech to the UN. You know how he sounds when he's just reading stuff off a teleprompter - slow, droning, and no emotion like he doesn't give a ******? Like that, but worse than normal.
