That's because he's quoting someone else, presumable someone on Fox & Friends. Look for the quotation marks. He's usually good at naming whoever he's quoting.

I gonna guess that Trump knows exactly who the whistleblower is, and that he's teeing up some xenophobic demagoguery to feed his cult if it becomes public. He's already accused the whistleblower of being partisan; "not really American" is on deck.

It's not so much the statement itself..which is sort of hard to disagree with..but that given Donnie's atittiutde toward Muslims, as the hypocrisy of the guy making it.

Just because some people are badly misusing the term "Religious Freedom" does not make the concept invalid.

My sample size is tiny, but I don't think it's true that evangelicals only care about white Christians. I mean, maybe they do, but that's not the official line. They need to believe in persecuted Christians in Africa, the Middle East, China etc. to sustain one of their key narratives, that of the "war on Christianity" or whatever you want to call it. That said, evangelicals probably will not push back on Trump because he is just a poor sinner demonstrating mankind's perpetual need for redemption.

They might make a few anti-India noises. For one thing, these people worship cows, for crying out loud. Their idea of holy water is cow urine. I'd love it if Trump hosted Modi and served prime rib, or platefuls of hamberders ...

There have to be more fundamental rights than religious freedom. Religious freedom would be an emergent right based on other freedoms such as freedom of speech and freedom of association.
