Maybe you could contact Boris and Barnier and offer to resolve it for them.
I never said the improvement would resolve a disagreement.

How can the EU know what a "better" is?I didn't call the EU recalcitrant or say use this time to fix the backstop. I said make the deal better as a general matter with extra time.
Delphic Oracle - your prediction was 100% correct! If the negotiators agreed to base a number on a model, and that number was 12%, maybe with additional run-out, another run of the model produces 12.3%.

Now you are making my blood vessels throb.
How can the EU know what a "better" is?

Convince me why I shouldn't.
Jo Swinson is still adamant that the Coalition did a great job, that austerity was the correct response to the global financial crisis and the way it was targeted at the poorest and most vulnerable in society was proportionate, humane and reasonable.
HTH.
You are judging the Lib Dems by political standards from 5 years back. Nowadays, it's a case of wondering "are they worse than Piers Morgan's face just after he's ejaculated?", and there, the choice is limited.
For every use of the word "Johnson" cross it out and replace it with "Cummings". Johnson doesn't do strategy and tactics, he does corney stunts like getting stuck on a zip wire.https://www.ft.com/content/7517abfa-d638-11e9-8367-807ebd53ab77
Paywalled, this quoted from it on another forum:
Tories extend poll lead to 12% despite week of political chaos

What is the case law that suggests the prime Minister can't send a separate letter to the EU along with the request for extension? Or asking another country to veto it?
For your edification, here is a conversation over at badscience:
“We will prorogue Parliament again if we lose in court” - what @thesundaytimes reports Dominic Cummings told Tory special advisors will happen
Cummings tells Cabinet what will happen. Boris tells the jokes.
"Boris Johnson will tell the outgoing European commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker, on Monday that he will defy a new act of parliament and refuse to discuss or accept any offer to extend the UK’s membership even if a Brexit deal cannot be agreed, Downing Street said last night.
The prime minister’s hardline message to Brussels that he will take the UK out of the EU on 31 October, come what may ..." link
Is this maximum mayhem to pave the way for a post-31st election with the Brexit Party now sidelined? Is that the only objective, to secure his place in #10?
That opinion polls give the Tories a lead, will further convince Boris he can defy Parliament and the courts and leave. He has the people's support.
He is in a strong position with that lead, as he can point to him being the democrat and Parliament and the courts being anti-democracy and the will of the people.
