The main road between two ... towns? villages? ... in Slovenia (Radovica-Bušinja, route 663) straddles the Croatian border at least four times, a portion of the road is literarily on the border - you might cross the border by overtaking, if this map is perfectly accurate.
This is still the Schengen border and for six years was the border between a member of Schengen area and third country that was not a member of the EU.
To the best of my knowledge it was never considered a significant issue. If EU can do that it can do the English-Scott border.
