Nice simple border…

Thanks!

The main road between two ... towns? villages? ... in Slovenia (Radovica-Bušinja, route 663) straddles the Croatian border at least four times, a portion of the road is literarily on the border - you might cross the border by overtaking, if this map is perfectly accurate.

This is still the Schengen border and for six years was the border between a member of Schengen area and third country that was not a member of the EU.

To the best of my knowledge it was never considered a significant issue. If EU can do that it can do the English-Scott border.

I fear that may not be the case. IMO Post Brexit and post Scottish (and maybe Northern Irish) independence, England will turn inwards and make all other countries the scapegoat for all problems. The horrible EU will be blamed for all of England's woes and there will be a concerted propaganda exercise conducted by the (by now permanent - once the Scottish non-Tory MPs have gone) Conservative/Brexit Party government and the Times/Telegraph/Mail/Express/Sun. English minds will be so poisoned against the EU that we wouldn't want to join on any terms no matter how favourable :(.

That would be my supposition, too. And what a sad end to a nation that was once the world's biggest superpower it will be.

i thought they call them the "Malouines".
The Spanish name "Malvinas" is based on this French original, for as wiki informs us
The Spanish name for the archipelago, Islas Malvinas, derives from the French Îles Malouines—the name given to the islands by French explorer Louis-Antoine de Bougainville iafter the port of Saint-Malo (the point of departure for his ships and colonists).

To be fair to Vixen, John Nott's memoirs aren't the whole story.

And if he tells the court to go to hell?

That would precipitate a constitutional crisis. Since there has been no instruction from the Scottish Judges since the verdict on the 11th, I presume they are waiting for the Supreme Court to rule.

It is the end of the superpower, but not, I confidently believe, of the English nation. This constitutional mess will be surmounted sooner or later.

Almost funny :

Boris Johnson revives plan for £15bn bridge from Scotland to Northern Ireland

Boris Johnson has revived his plan to build a bridge between Northern Ireland and Scotland - saying that it would be a “very good” idea and that it would cost £15bn.

Speaking to children during his visit to lighthouse tender NLV Pharos on the Thames, Johnson said he had recently been discussing the possibility of constructing a bridge over the Irish Sea. He said:
...
The original Sunday Times story about Johnson’s proposal provoked a memorable letter to the paper from a retired offshore engineer who said the idea was “about as feasible as building a bridge to the moon”.

The Moon Bridge will be next. And the Celenites will pay for it!

The fact that the Tories have started pitching themselves as being against the "Establishment" and as being against the rich people who are corrupting politics genuinely makes me sad. They're literally just copying Trump. All they need is to be a little more explicitly racist and sexist and they're there.

What, like have the PM make references to 'Letterboxes", "Bank Robbers", "Piccaninnies" and "Water Melon Smiles". I think Johnson's ticked that box, it's just got somewhat lost in the ongoing plot of "Some Mothers do Ave a Consitutional Crisis while Trashing the Country"

Boris Johnson has been given 7 days to respond to the court regarding the case to prevent him breaking the law over the extension request. He had requested 21 days but the court said the urgency of the situation required a faster response.

He required 21 days to respond? That would be the just about the entire prorogation. The proposal alone is contempt of court.

This isn't the prorogation case, it's a second case against him raised by the same people to prevent him breaking the law by not sending the letter to request an extension from the EU as he keeps insisting he won't

French Wikipedia confirms they still call it by their "original" name:

Boris Johnson deluded and/or lying as usual:

The prime minister said he was "cautiously optimistic" of getting a Brexit deal

The EU is less so:

EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said he did not have "reasons to be optimistic" over getting a deal.

So....

Boris Johnson has said he "won't be deterred by anybody" from leaving the EU on 31 October.

I guess that means he'll break the law and become a Brexit martyr

On general matters of policy, I don't think so, and he's certainly nowhere near as right wing as, say, the Home Secretary.

I hosted a meeting for Welsh MPs in 2013 or 2014, and he certainly seemed to be very friendly with Jessica Morden on the other side of the House. Never seen such flirtation, back and forth, in a meeting before.

I'm not a violent person but a tiny part of me would really like to see whether Boris Johnson really would prefer to be dead in a ditch instead of asking for an article 50 extension.

Talk is cheap but with a gun to his head and a clear expectation that the person holding the gun is prepared to follow through would Boris Johnson, a Brexit opportunist, sacrifice himself for the cause ?
