The Trump Presidency: Sweet/Sweat 16

SharpieGate is a prime example why it is a good policy not to let Trump get away with forcing his own narrative on an issue:
yes, him talking about Alabama after it was clear that it was in the clear was no big deal, but what followed after that was and still is a big deal.

This administration as declared a War on Facts since the Inauguration, but it doesn't look like it's winning.

I now really hope when Trump goes down..and he eventually will...he takes the GOP with him. It no longer deserves to survive.

The man's obviously insane at this point. What will it take for them to ditch him? Nobody seems to want to cross him, and yet he's a helpless old man.

Hell, Nixon would probably hate him.

Hating trump is part of the poison that he brings to all of us. He brings out the worst in people by being the worst among us. Insulting, demeaning, indecent, disrespectful, dishonest. For some, his example emboldens them to behave the same way, and in others he elicits this behaviour in unconscious response. None of it is good. The longer this seeps into society - not just American society - the longer and more difficult it will be to reverse. He's a plague.

We've achieved peak irony. Trump gives stump speech in NC, again repeating his baseless claim that Democrats win elections due to widespread voter fraud.

He is only in NC because a special election is being held after the Republican campaign was caught red handed engaging in election fraud and the results had to be tossed.

Nobody cares. Anyone who cares about election fraud is already anti-GOP and anti President Trump.

We have a president who right now, his major activity and preoccupation seems to be if a weather map was doctored, if it was a serious attempt to deceive or just a deliberate provocation directed at the mass media (almost all of whom, or so our president claims, hate him with a passion).

You're right, this Sharpiegate is distracting Trump from his important work like Twitter feuding with actresses, insulting foreign mayors and prime ministers, and gossiping about flaming and/or flamingo dancers.

Fake Weather - Trump knows more about hurricanes than all the meteorologists.
Except about those Category 5s. Nobody's ever heard of those before.

Unfortunately, he's also the person with the most power in the entire world.

We are to the point where the administration is threatening to fire people for saying the sky is blue.

And Trump GOP are happy to accept it.

Blue? No, the sky is red because the sky is where Jesus lives and he's a Republican. Heaven is a red state.

This has always been Trump's pattern. With the football league, the airline, the casinos. He makes a good start, unorthodox, but he seems like he not only knows what he's doing he may just be able to pull it off. After time, the cracks begin to appear and things start to go south. Finally, everything collapses. Then it becomes clear to everyone, he didn't know what he was doing, after all. Not a clue. :(

The usual for Donnie. Just ask anyone who ever invested in one of his 'businesses.'

Two of the House’s 13 Republican women—[Alabama's Martha] Roby and Indiana’s Susan Brooks—have also already said that they would not run again in 2020. Brooks’s decision to retire was particularly ominous: She had been tapped to serve as the House Republicans’ recruitment chair.

Driving this shift is Donald Trump himself. His deep unpopularity among just about everyone but working-class white men is an electoral anchor around the party’s neck, one that even a decade of partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression in red states can’t fully offset. And if past is prologue, Trump is far more likely to double down on what makes him unpopular instead of course-correct to win back voters. Link

Trump denies any involvement in sending military planes through Prestwick, Scotland -- the faltering airport on which his golf course depends.

(If you believe that, I have some awesome property in the Bahamas I'd like to sell you.)

Of course, it turns out he personally arranged it. I'm shocked.

Being a blithering idiot ? Genuine attempt to sow the seeds for getting around Presidential term limits ? Just throwing some red meat to his base (like a band saying that they'd love to do another 5 encores but the venue is turning off the power) ? Jangling the keys to distract the media from other shiznit ? Just trolling the libtards ? A combination of all 5 ?

Personally I think at the moment he's having fun trolling us on the left. The trouble is that he may end up talking himself into a stupid idea later on - like buying Greenland.

His FAILING golf course, you mean?

Trump has said he's not a "stock market guy". That's probably because you can't buy GE at $10 and instantly call Deutsche Bank to claim it's worth $30 as collateral.

ETA: Well, OK, you can, but not even Deutsche is going to buy that.
BTW, here is Trump saying he's not in stocks. It also includes complaints that the Fed under Obama was obviously political when it kept interest rates low for an extended period of time, creating a "false market".
