The Trump Presidency: Sweet/Sweat 16

Nothing else seems to have done it. I don't know why that would do it now. He bounces back, always it seems. And his sycophants just follow along behind him. I wonder if anyone is doing so out of fear of his revenge.

My theory on why it’ll never happen is that as his comments and actions become more and more over the top, they will eventually become so outrageous that the most loyal followers will not believe that he said or did the thing. The threshold for starting to wonder if the fake media hacked his twitter or CGI-ed a video is below or equal to the threshold for turning away from him. Thus, they will never turn away.

So, a little questionable election shenannigans from the Trump side...

A pro-Republican super pac (these are political organizations that are legally prohibited from coordinating with a candidate's campaign; They can spend as much as they want, but they can't talk to or exchange information with the actual politician's organization) gave a bunch of money to a company that just happened to be owned by Trump's campaign manger.

From: https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...ands-to-firm-owned-by-trump-campaign-managers
A top pro-Trump super PAC paid thousands of dollars to a company owned by the wife of Brad Parscale, President Trump’s campaign manager. Federal Election Commission (FEC) files show America First Action, which was founded in 2017 to support the president and Republican candidates across the country, gave $910,000 to Red State Data and Digital, which was founded by Candice Parscale.

And remember, the FEC (The group that would be responsible for policing the actions of political campaigns and super PACS) currently doesn't have enough members to actually enforce anything (thanks to Moscow Mitch and Stubby McBonespurs, who have not filled several vacant positions.)

Nah, that won't do it.

His Chosen one statements might, though.

No, probably not. Those of my friends and family in the evangelist/extremely Christian camps are all taking the tack that Trump was only joking when he said that/he meant he was chosen by we the people/it's just being blown out of proportion. I don't think Trump claiming to be the anti-Christ as he pisses on a cross would even sway them at this point.

His denial of it, when no one seemed to be really concerned about it, definitely proves that the US had something to do with it, under his orders.

No; it proves nothing but that he wants to start that rumor, regardless of its accuracy.

“One of the most disgraceful examples of an abuse of power by a government official…when you read this report…this is a systematic effort to go after Candidate Trump, President Elect-Trump, and President Trump....you could virtually call this an attempted coup."
@RepPeteKing

They sure love the c-word, don't they? So much that they just keep proving that they have no idea what it means, and their followers lap it up anyways. Honestly, with the way things are going - The Republicans are going to try to stage a real coup... again, justified by these utter lies and blame it on the Democrats. An unfortunate consequence of what seems to increasingly be the right-wing's modus operadi. Stir up rage for made up sins to push opponents out of power, then actually commit those sins with the support of those who were "enraged" by the prior lies.

This is what could get more GOP members to abandon Trump:

If only. Remember, he literally gave away super top secret information to Russia as if it were a casual conversation starter, on top of the myriad of other serious breaches of national security that he and those close to him have engaged in - with virtually no consequences at all. Clearly, those who actually cared about National Security had already been given far more than ample reason to work with to abandon Trump. If they didn't, well... this is highly unlikely to change their minds.

He's floating the idea, testing the water.

...With disturbing frequency. I'm not sure that it honestly counts as floating the idea by now, so much as preparing his followers for an oncoming gambit.

On to a piece of random, but unsurprising news.

Trump, Barr pack asylum appeals court with hardliners

The kind of hardliners who...

Cassidy also showed up once in another judge's courtroom, wearing his robes, and proceeded to tell that judge how to handle the hearing. In 2016, Cassidy said an immigrant coming to the border was like "a person coming to your home in a Halloween mask, waving a knife dripping with blood." Fogle also recounted another hearing with Cassidy, when he was representing a former Ethiopian official. "As he was telling his story, Fogle remembers, Cassidy jumped up, turned off the court's audio recorder, and yelled, '********!'"

"That's the guy that's going to be adjudicating appeals from other immigration judges," says Fogle, along with six more who have been elevated precisely because they apparently don't believe in immigration.

are pieces of ****. The attacks on immigration in general continue.

Pillow talk in the Conway household must be extremely interesting!

There was an article about Kellyanne Conway where she said that their difference of opinion created tension in their household. She tried to claim it as off the record, asking for the quote to be attributed to a friend close to the couple, but since she'd already said that everything was on the record the journalist told her that they'd attribute it to her.

OTOH, there's speculation that neither of them is truly sincere, and they're both blowing smoke up people because it keeps money rolling in for both of them.

President Trump Tweets Sensitive Surveillance Image of Iran

No it won't, but its still contrary to the usual practice of avoiding publishing any high-resolution satellite images because they reveal what and how much the US can know. There's a good reason why you don't simply publicly release the most important, and sensitive, pieces of intelligence that you have: it's because you don't want your adversaries to know your capabilities. If people actually trust you and what you say, because you are not a liar or dishonest exaggerator (like Trump is), you don't have to show that.

For this reason they usually only publicly release satellite images with the same, or only marginally better, resolution compared to what's offered by commercial satellite imaging services. Sometimes they even specifically commission commercial satellite images for this specific purpose.

“They could have charged Comey with theft of government documents, 641 of the Criminal Code, because the IG found these were not his personal documents, these were government documents.” @GreggJarrett “Comey’s claim that these were just his own personal recollections would not..

....pass the laugh test, and the Inspector General just knocked that down.”

Unreal: the fmr Fed Chair is lobbying the Fed to use its authority to meddle in the election to defeat @realDonaldTrump. POTUS is standing up for America against China after 30 years of our country & workers being ripped off and now some are trying anything to stop his efforts.

I'd be more curious as to how people like Pirro, Hannity and Carlson feel about all this.

I mean, WE know that they are more or less Trump surrogates. They know it too. But, I'm sure they don't want to be labeled as Trump employees outright because they want to maintain a figleaf of journalist integrity.
Retain their pay packets I'd have said rather journalistic integrity. If they can't draw the right audience for the marketing industry they'll have to change or they may find they are without the job or a reduction in their prominence and therefore probably a smaller fee.

Taiwan shared information about Chinese rockets that were fired near their island. The Taiwanese government stated that there was nothing to fear since the payload was only test equipment. That was enough information to alert the Chinese to the possibility that there was a Taiwan spot in their missile program. He was found and executed.

“The IG found that James Comey leaked Classified Documents to his attorneys, which can be (is) a violation of the Espionage Act. This is consistent with all the lies that Comey has been spreading.
