Speaking a language doesn't necessarily mean you can follow someone who's speaking that language quickly, fluently and maybe using complex constructions.

:sdl:

Right, Melania is fluent in five languages (English, French, Italian, German and Slovenian).

By Melania's standard I'm fluent in English; French and German (which I can actually operate autonomously in); Italian and Spanish (where I can ask directions, avoid starving and have brief conversations); Danish, Swedish and Norwegian (where I can get an (expensive) round of drinks in, say hi to people and apologise for stepping on peoples toes) and Welsh (where I know words like rygbi and snwcer :p).

Trump Tweets

Just returned to Washington from France and the very successful G-7, only to find that the Fake News is still trying to perpetuate the phony story that I wanted to use Nuclear weapons to blow up hurricanes before they reach shore. This is so ridiculous, never happened!

And yet, visiting a French paediatric hospital she spoke a few simple French phrases then switched to her somewhat broken English and a translator. With even my poor French I'd be able to ask a child their name and get the tu part right.

She isn't fluent in those languages, apart from Slovenian, obviously, and maybe English

Her Italian is also busted in this video, around the 4:30 mark, where she addresses a bunch of kids in the singular form of 'you' :

I suppose that, strictly speaking, that he may be telling the truth here. He may not have expressed a direct desire to use nuclear weapons to blow up hurricanes - instead he may merely have been asking whether they could be used to disrupt them

To be fair, looking at Trudeau is much more pleasing than looking at Trump. This is the equivalent of staring at a garbage dump, and then turning your gaze to a beautiful sunset.
While the garbage dump has a death grip on your left hand.
Of course, with Trump's tiny hands, its not easy to maintain a death group...

So did you ... but you got closer.

This presupposes a level of subtlety Trump has never demonstrated.

The stable genius has been on a roll. The lies are relentless and painfully obvious. His many inadequacies were on full display at G7. His performance was nothing short of surreal.

It's amusing, in a way, how him getting elected president is what finally exposed him as being completely inadequate at everything. Had he stayed in his usual field, we might not have noticed so much until he passed away.

The Peter Principle in action. Promoted to his level of incompetence, where his abilities are completely inappropriate for the job.

So? Why would you bother pointing this out?
