India-Bigotry in India

Or the occasional assassin.

Pakistan is not quite in a state of "Government by Assasination " the way Japan was in the early 1930's but they are getting there....
In fact Japan in the decade before they entered World War 2 is a pretty good parrelel to Pakistand today: The Military holds the real power, they just prefer to use Civilisn puppets other then your standard Military Dictator. But that may change.

Riots and demostrations already being reported in Kashmir. The government is going all out to prevent "unfriendly" journalists and politicians into Pakisran.

According to official Indian reports, the news of riots is fake.

They're learning how this all works very nicely.

Um, Japan was in pretty constant war that whole time you know. They held off attacking european powers until their ally Germany kicked it off but it isn't like they were peaceful before then.

THis is a very america centric view of Japan in WWII.

Yeah, Japan was in constant war because they were trying to conquer China, beginning with the aggression in Manchuria in 1931...
ANyway, you don't seem to know a lot about Japan and the build up to World War 2. Let's just say Japan was just as aggressive as their Nazi allies in Europe.

Or the invasion of Korea in 1910.

Sure they tried to snap up all the european colonies when the germans had them nicely distracted. It is the idea that it is easy to assign a date to the start of WWII, do we do it from when the Germans got into war with poland, when america entered the war, when china was invaded by the japanses, when the japanese invaded korea?

There were a lot of conflicts that over time merged together into WWII it makes dating it not so easy.

One of India's largest corporations, Reliance, has just announced the impending revelations for large "development" projects for Kashmir just a week before their AGM. This goes to confirm what many suspected about the reasons for the hurried way in which the Aryicles 370 and 35A were abrogated. Modi's biggest funders and supporters are Reliance industtries and Infrastructure giant Adani. Both these companies are revealing plans for Kashmir. Adani's company is getting a lot of flack in Australia about mining contracts that they were given.

Oh, bingo.

You knew there was going to be money somewhere. Modi really has been taking Trump lessons.

Actually, his strategy was lab tested long before during his tenure as Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat. A mix of PR and advertising harped on the extremely lucrative and successful Gujarat model. However recent revelations have revealed a lot of that was just fluff and the state actually ranks pretty low on various socio-economic indices.

Many of us who watched the US 2016 elections which took place after Modi's win in 2014 were struck by how similar Trump's campaign strategy was very similar to Modi's. To the extent that many of us believed that they had the same campaign consultants. A large portion of BJP party funds originate from Indians settled in the US.

And Internet Forums in the US have been flooded by pro BJP posters over the past week.
The bigotry toward Muslims and almost any non Hindu's is incredible. IMHO if they are resident in the US, I would not mind them moving back to India. We have enough bigots of our own to deal with without importing them...

Noooooo....please....keep them....

Modi's image as a brilliant strategist being called into question as economy is on the brink of plummeting. Economists on both sides say India should prepare for the worst. Just before the recent elections I had told my friends that Modi will not lose support even if the streets run with blood...but once investments of the upper caste rich begin to tank, the story will change.
Suspicions that recent high profile political spectacles like the abrogation of Article 370, the Bollywood style arrest of an opposition MP and more were basically diversionary from the issue that could actually hurt Modi's image. Like Trump he had developed this image of possessing a Midas touch and how Gujarat became a great economic powerhouse during his tenure as Chief Minister. However recent socio-economic reports have shown that a lot of these stories were PR fluff.
Today's papers carried the arrest of the opposition MP as the main headline while the economic crisis was pushed to a peripheral location with smaller headlines on the front page.

This might be just a rumor, but I read that the Disney company put it's plans for a Disneyworld resort at Mumbai on hold because of the turmoil in India. Can't blame them for that. Large inevements in a country headed toward chaos is not a good idea.

Funny how that's a common thread among the proto-fascists around the world.

Given China's massive fall in growth and EU on the brink of the first quarter of a contraction he'll need a magician to hold the economy together.

The Republican Party in the US actively courts racist voters by formulating campaign strategies to attract them......and then does it’s level best to deliver on its promises. While every Republican voter is not an active bigot, every active bigot is a Republican voter. They represent fully one-half the population of the US.

That’s right, at the moment racism on an institutional level is the policy of the executive branch of the government and the upper half of the congress.

I have no experience with India, but it doesn’t sound like your problems are much worse than ours.

Dems don't seem to understand their hatred for Republicans they don't even know a thing about is bigotry on steroids. Even worse, it is so common it is tiresome and even boring. You know, the banality of evil.

SO says the guy who says that Breibart is the most reliable source of information around.
And for a GOPer to accuse the other side of blind hatred is the biggest Irony buster ever

I don't think the GOP operates in India, so we can maybe leave that for a different thread.

Meanwhile, in Kashmir, things aren't improving: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019...ity-tightened-call-march-190823150700745.html

19 days. Seems to me like the idea is Modi will just stick to doing no more than has already been done, effectively waiting for someone else to make the first move.

Wins either way.
