The Trump Presidency 15

"do you want to learn how to make a computer, little tiny piece of stuff?" - Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America.

The condescension is amazing. Had a Democrat suggested that a bloc of voters were only good for hewing wood, hauling water and digging underground, they Great Right Wing Noise Machine would be up in arms.

I’m surprised no one went with the obvious epitaph: Here Lies DJ Trump.

How does it end? Where is peak Trumpian weirdness? Suppose he dropped his pants at a rally, just to prove he has a normal willy the yugest, greatest, most presidential willy in the history of willies ... would he get away with that on Fox? Seems likely to me, the way things are going.

It never really ends.

In his second term he travels to the state of Mexico and takes away a job
from a legal migrant tending the fields (photo). Of course, he does many
crazy things between now and then.

I found this insightful:

I never saw that in prior trade deals the US was always the loser - these were carefully crafted deals that sought a balance where both sides stood to gain. Otherwise why would both parties sign on? Clearly, some were better than others, but blowing things up like a bull in a china shop is perhaps not the best path to thriving and mutually beneficial global trade.

Frum's tweet is freaking brilliant.
And that is why the blind GOP support for Donnie is stupid: His economics are just plain stupid from a capitalist point of view.

It's downright depressing that it isn't higher.

40% of the population will support any idiot in the White House because he has an "R" a the end of his name.
Same for the Democrats;40% of the population will support any idiot with a "D" at the end ofhis name.
It's the other 20% who decide elections.
That is US politics 101:The swing voters decide elections.

I guess it's insightful, up until the point where he brings up Marxism out of nowhere. Trying to characterize Trump's policies as having anything to do with Marxism shows a staggering amount of idiocy on Frum's part, and really kills whatever point he was trying to make, for me at least (seriously, I struggle to see how anyone could read that tweet and think Frum has any credibility - he either has no idea what Marxism is, is just being a partisan hack, or maybe both, and he didn't even need to include that bit to make his point). Although I guess it should be expected from the likes of him.

Problem seems to be that most people in the US haven't the foggiest idea what Marxism is about.

America, especially younger Americans, don't understand Marxism because we're no longer living in a world where we can watch it actively failing.

I want capitalism to be overhauled.

I want social programs to at least be able to be discussed without "OMG SOZILAISM!" from the right.

I do NOT want anyone to start going "Yah know... maybe it's time to give that communism thing another try."

Screw all that new-fangled crap.

Feudalism is where it's at.

Peasant.
