Boris Johnson makes a promise (again :rolleyes:) and it turns out that it's impossible.

The UK's telecoms industry has issued the prime minister a challenge of its own after Boris Johnson said he wanted full-fibre broadband "for all" by 2025.

An open letter says the target is possible, but only if the government tackles four problems causing delays.

It adds that all of the issues must be resolved "within the next 12 months" to achieve the high-speed internet goal.

But one expert said at least one of measures was unachievable in that time frame.

No it's not. It's exactly what happens.

Here, the governing party is already established and ~120k Tory party members elected Johnson. The Queen is rarely faced with a 'most likely' scenario, and certainly wasn't in this case.

This century, no party had an absolute majority in two out of five general elections. Both of those were "most likely" situations. Three out of the four prime ministers who first took office this century were appointed with no general election. One of them gained the leadership with no election at all.
 
And Priti Patel after announcing she wants criminals to feel terrified (which is fair, god knows the rest of us are terrified of Bojo and his cabinet of idiots) denies she actively supports the death penalty:

So I guess this was a completely different Priti Patel appearing on Question Time:

Well, they are learning at the feet of the master, President Trump. If the truth is inconvenient, simply insist that the opposite is the case and ignore all evidence to the contrary.

The nest step will be to decry the BBC as the #FakeNews media for disseminating pro-Remain propaganda, declare them enemies of the state (after all anyone who isn't vehemently pro-no-deal is a traitor) and to gaslight the public. :mad:

Oh they've already been attacking the BBC for that and they've gone further with the cute little stunt Theresa May pulled by dumping funding free TV licenses for pensioners on the BBC. She knew the BBC couldn't afford to fund it without massive cuts to programme budgets and when instead the BBC announced they intend to restrict eligibility BoJo and co. pretend they are horrified and are using it as a weapon to go after the BBC. Public broadcaster, public services, the NHS, they are all on the hitlist of the Tories as they plan for their race to the bottom to turn the UK into a sweatshop economy.

I've only been to Sweden, Finland and Denmark for work and have never used currency in any of them. Actually right now I'm in Norway on vacation and have brought cash. Everything is really bloody expensive.

It's still annoyingly popular in publishing, especially journals.

What I mean is I use two spaces. I particularly like apps where doing that automatically produces a full stop.

Have you noticed that this vBulletin software strips multiple spaces down to one? Here are several... . I can also see your double space in the bit I'm quoting, but it will be gone when I submit this.

Isn't it a pity that this kind of interview is seen as unusual (and even rude and bullying in some quarters) rather than exactly the kind of thing all politicians should be getting on any topic every single day.

Seems a rather strange thing to hang onto as it was only ever because of a limitation in one type of technology, that limitation no longer exists but you want to still correct for it therefore now creating an error....

That's because multiple spaces after a full stop (aka period) are wrong. It was only ever introduced due to the limitations of typewriter fixed width fonts.
