The Trump Presidency 15

On this 50th Anniversary of the Moon landing, I'm wondering how he's going to take credit for getting us there and back.

I've seriously been holding my breath waiting for him to make some sort of moon landing hoax reference in his normal "insane rambling saying everything and nothing" way.

Can someone begin to explain what this was intended to mean?

Left wing cranks are the reason why there are instructions on the side of a shampoo bottle - and presumably the President thinks that the majority of people think that these instructions are pointless and unnecessary.

Left wing cranks should therefore be ignored.

At least that's how I parse his word salad.

He's already said that the US is going back - and then on to Mars and beyond.

Presumably with manned missions.

Of course there's no more money available so how it'll be done is anyone's guess

Now that's silly.

Why would we need to go from the Moon "then on to Mars" when everyone knows that the Moon is actually part of mars?

"For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon - We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!"
- Donald Trump

Instructions on the side of a shampoo bottle are actually a major marketing ploy.

Especially, the "Lather. Rinse. REPEAT." part.

The person who added "Repeat" to the shampoo instructions was a marketing genius.

I thought he was implying they were idiots and so required the instructions on the side of shampoo bottles...

:)

Sometimes I wonder if he's not doing that on purpose.

I think it's just clumsy wording, so when he says:

President Trump said:
They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part)

I don't think he ever intended to say or imply that the Moon is part or Mars but rather that there are many bigger things that the US is doing, that going to Mars is one of them and that returning to the moon would be part of going to Mars.

Then again, the President's statements are often a verbal salmagundi

So funny fact.

If you go on the US Government's official Equal Opportunity Employment Commission webpage:

https://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/publications/immigrants-facts.cfm

and get to the section about "Harassment based on national origin" the motherpissing literal example the United States flippin' government uses to demonstrate "potentially unlawful conduct" is, and I quote:

Harassment Based on National Origin

Ethnic slurs and other verbal or physical conduct because of nationality are illegal if they are severe or pervasive and create an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment, interfere with work performance, or negatively affect job opportunities. Examples of potentially unlawful conduct include insults, taunting, or ethnic epithets, such as making fun of a person's foreign accent or comments like, "Go back to where you came from, " whether made by supervisors or by co-workers.

Here's the thing...

If it were any other president (Obama, heck, even George Bush) I would not consider it a significant issue. As president, their statements are being constantly analyzed and its certainly possible for the occasional gaff to exist simply because of the number of speeches, interviews, and other types of communications they are involved with. (It never bothered me when Obama talked about "visiting 57 states", or Bush being "misunderestimated").

However, Trump has regularly bragged about his intelligence, while at the same time insulting the intelligence of others. (And these sorts of attacks have filtered down to many of his supporters.)

Because Trump has made intelligence an issue, I am far less lenient when it comes to trying to justify his mistakes as just "clumsy wording".

That's easy... allow the republicans to implement their health care plans. Since Trump tends to appeal to the more uneducated and older voters, they will probably be more affected by republicans attacking Obamacare and/or Medicare. More of them will die off. Problem solved.

I had no idea it would be that easy.

Feds end investigation into Trump Organization.

New York (CNN)Federal prosecutors in New York have ended their investigation into the Trump Organization's role in hush money payments made to women who alleged affairs with President Donald Trump and have been ordered by a judge to release additional information connected to their related probe of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

I see he's ignoring the other 50%, according to his own sources.

According to one source, his approval rating is a lot higher than that.

In an interview with "Fox and Friends" (of course) on Wednesday morning, the President's middle son let out this whopper:
"My father is in there, and he's fighting every single day. And he has to fight against the media. He has to fight against these lunatics. And guys, I'm telling you, 95% of this country is behind him in this message. I mean, people love this nation."

95%. He's either so deep in denial that he can see the Pyramids, or stroking his father's ego to an enormous degree has become ingrained to the point of compulsion.

Hard to say whether this will ultimately be a good thing or bad thing.

Would have been nice to see them have to deal with the spectre of illegal payments in court. On the other hand, ending the investigation means that some material that HAD been previously kept from the public will now be released.
