Watching @FoxNews weekend anchors is worse than watching low ratings Fake News @CNN, or Lyin’ Brian Williams (remember when he totally fabricated a War Story trying to make himself into a hero, & got fired. A very dishonest journalist!) and the crew of degenerate......

.....Comcast (NBC/MSNBC) Trump haters, who do whatever Brian & Steve tell them to do. Like CNN, NBC is also way down in the ratings. But @FoxNews, who failed in getting the very BORING Dem debates, is now loading up with Democrats & even using Fake unsourced @nytimes as....

..a “source” of information (ask the Times what they paid for the Boston Globe, & what they sold it for (lost 1.5 Billion Dollars), or their old headquarters building disaster, or their unfunded liability? @FoxNews is changing fast, but they forgot the people who got them there!

I apologize because I have definitely said this before, but ... The parenthetical asides and digressions, the meandering speech is just maddening to me. Such a muddled mind; it reads very much like the writing of the old 9/11 conspiracy theorists that used to post here. He needs one more close parentheses to make a seeded parenthetical, an aside to his aside about the Boston Globe.

Do people honestly think Evangelical voters don't understand that? They know as well as you or me that Trump couldn't walk past a church without bursting into flames.

They know damn well Trump isn't one of them. What Trump has done is gotten them two seats on the Supreme Court.

You'd be surprised. The evangelical members of my family do not view Trump cynically. They compare him to Saul.

This is why the separation of Church and State is so very important. People like those described above scare the crap out of me.

The idea that anyone can think that Trump is 'chosen by God' is mind boggling. He has broken several of the Ten Commandments multiple times:

1. That shalt not steal: he has failed to pay contractors.
2. That shalt not lie: over 10,000 proved lies.
3. That shalt not commit adultery: he's cheated multiple times on all 3 wives
4. Thous shalt have no other gods before me: Trump worships himself and money over anything.
5. Thou shalt not bear false witness: He has falsely accused many people of things he knows are not true: Mueller, Obama, Central Park Five, too any to count.

But Christianity is not about being without sin. Being a sinner is not a reason for Christians to shun him.

On the other hand, it is most certainly wacky for his supporters to assert that President Trump is a Christian. The depths of his Bible ignorance and his disdain for church services aside, he lacks the one absolute requirement to be a Christian: a belief that he is a sinner facing damnation and salvation can come from only one source - Jesus Christ, Son of God.

SOME evangelicals recognize that, but vote for him anyway. As one journalist noted, "they've lost their gag reflex." But others are 'true believers' and have willfully partaken of the Kool Aid. They either totally ignore his behavior as 'fake news' or they make excuses for him. It's somehow not his fault, he's only human, or it was before he was The Chosen One.

“We kind of gave him — ‘All right, you get a mulligan. You get a do-over here.”

- Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, on the white evangelical response to Donald Trump’s alleged tryst with a porn star

God uses imperfect messengers, evangelicals reasoned, and if King David — an adulterer who arranged to have his partner’s husband killed — could still accomplish great good, why not the 45th president?

“You and I both know that this president has said things, over and over, that aren’t true,” Melvin said.

“No, I don’t know that,” said Graham. “I don’t sit around and try to find every fault in the president every day, looking for everything that he might have misspoken or mis-said. I don’t do that.”

“I don’t think the president is sitting there behind the desk trying to make up lies. I don’t believe that for a second. Has he misspoken on something? Sure. All of us do that. You do it and I do it. And sometimes we get the facts wrong and we say something that later on we realize, we could’ve said it better or it was misrepresented.”
(Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham)

Not exactly seeing the crisis part. :covereyes

You should read the rest of the article. Many of the children of evangelicals can't and won't stand for the hypocrisy as they see the lies and philandering of Trump. That while older evangelicals see Trump as some kind of savior, their children do not. It is a generation that is lost.

That was the best speech Donald Trump has ever given. Wonderful tribute to the USA.

Trump continues to stroke his own ego by retweeting anything that someone says positive about him. He really is the most insecure little man desperate for attention.

The Democrats hate @realDonaldTrump so much, they lied about “collusion,” lied about a “cover-up,” lied about the “crisis at the southern border,” and then lied about the “motives” of a man who wanted to celebrate the greatest idea ever realized...America. #SaluteToAmerica

Anyone want to start a hashtag war over that? #****YouRelativity? #****YouGermTheoryofDisease?

Part of the job of a diplomat is to advise the government of the status, character and tendencies of his host nation in order to facilitate negotiation strategies and so on?

Diplomat's observe their host nation and advise. Knowing that the chaos observed is likely, on the diplomat's view, to continue is an important consideration for the UK government.

Surely, any competent ambassador submits similar reports.

It's also important to remember that the leaked memos are from 2017, largely from before we had lots of leaks from insiders that confirmed the public suspicions that Trump's administration really is that much of a mess. This is just further confirmation from people with much better access than the general public that Trump is a dumpster fire.

What really bothers me is this:

“Yes—a number of people said they believe there is no
other way to explain his victories. Starting with the election and continuing
with the conclusion of the Mueller report. Many said God has chosen him and
is protecting him.”

Uhm, guys? It's no mystery why he continues to win - it's because you continue to vote for him!

Want to impress me with "The Will of God"? Get every Christian in the nation to vote against him - and then have God miracle up a win for him.

I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well....

....thought of within the U.S. We will no longer deal with him. The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!

I was surprised to learn that a friend of mine has become a Trump supporter. He reluctantly voted for Hillary in 2016, but now supports Trump. (He also enjoys Hannity and Carlson.) I honestly would've guessed the man was fairly liberal.

Anyway, the most insightful comment he made about Trump is this: "I believe he's as sincere as he can be." I took it to mean that the fella knows Trump lies, but can't help it. He's just not sincere, but he's as sincere as one of his character could be.

I don't agree with that assessment. I think Trump is a bald-faced liar. Sure, sometimes he just blurts out whatever he thinks will please the listener and in that sense he's about as sincere as he can be. At other times, he simply lies for a particular advantage, which can't be excused as a mere artifact of his character.

In any case, I didn't press him on our political differences. It was a light political discussion, not a debate. I was interested in his opinion, not trying to persuade him that he's mistaken. (He lives in Massachusetts, for God's sake. His vote doesn't matter. Now, were he in Florida, I might've taken the conversation more seriously.)

a) He wants to be king. It's good to be king!

b) The Queen detests him mightily (her brooch signalling says so) but has the manners not to say so for the good of her own country.

When Boris is made PM I wonder if the American ambassador to the UK will just copy those reports word for word and change all references of Trump to Boris?

I believe that some of the memos were much more recent, including mention of his recent visit to the UK.

Is he competing with himself? Was the crowd bigger or smaller than his inauguration?
A very good question! Since the WH and Fox & Friends haven't publicised the crowd numbers after the event (unless I missed it), chances are the numbers were WAY below Trump's expectation. So his handlers are trying to keep him in the dark about it.

My estimate, from the official Guardian picture album, was maybe no more than 20,000, with attendees forced to line the Reflection Pond inside the trees. That forced them to file back to the Washington Monument so they looked like more from Trump's lectern. That number is WAY smaller than his inauguration, way WAY smaller than Obama's inauguration crowd, and way way WAY smaller than MLK for his "I have a dream" speech. In short, another Trump fizzer.
