The Trump Presidency 15

I hope Trump gets Fox News so annoyed that the network turns on him.

(MARCH 20, 2019) "Fox News may stop serving as a propaganda network for Trump — and Hannity is reportedly freaking out. Lachlan Murdoch is allegedly wary of having his network seen as the president’s personal Soviet-style Pravda"

I imagine that Lachlan Murdoch is being pragmatic for the shareholders. If Trump goes down in 2020, advertisers will prefer alternative less Trump biased media. The Murdochs have already sold off Fox Film production and distribution. As Fox News can't survive as an independent, it may be to prepare to sell it off to a larger media company now rather than take a bath in 2020.

Trump Tweets

Impossible to believe that @FoxNews has hired @donnabrazile, the person fired by @CNN (after they tried to hide the bad facts, & failed) for giving Crooked Hillary Clinton the questions to a debate, something unimaginable. Now she is all over Fox, including Shep Smith, by far....

....their lowest rated show. Watch the @FoxNews weekend daytime anchors, who are terrible, go after her big time. That’s what they want - but it sure is not what the audience wants!

Good to see that Trump is keeping up with the important affairs of state.

The Deepening Crisis In Evangelical Christianity by Peter Wehner

Last week, Ralph Reed, the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s founder and chairman,
told the group, “There has never been anyone who has defended us and who
has fought for us, who we have loved more than Donald J. Trump. No one!”

...

He had interviewed scores of people, many of them evangelical Christians.
“I have never witnessed the kind of excitement and enthusiasm for a political
figure in my life,” he told me. “I honestly couldn’t believe the unwavering
support they have. And to a person, it was all about ‘the fight.’ There is a
very strong sense (I believe justified, you disagree) that he has been wronged.
Wronged by Mueller, wronged by the media, wronged by the anti-Trump forces.
A passionate belief that he never gets credit for anything.”

The rally goers, he said, told him that Trump’s era “is spiritually driven.” When
I asked whether he meant by this that Trump’s supporters believe God’s hand
is on Trump, this moment and at the election—that Donald Trump is God’s man,
in effect—he told me, “Yes—a number of people said they believe there is no
other way to explain his victories. Starting with the election and continuing
with the conclusion of the Mueller report. Many said God has chosen him and
is protecting him.”

Not exactly seeing the crisis part. :covereyes

But speaking of airports....

Which battle was President Trump referencing when he said the US Army seized the airports?
The Jet Offensive and Siege of Lennongrad.

The battles of Jetland and LaGuardiacanal.

ETA: Also potentially making military personnel have to choose between violating DOD ethics regulations and disobeying an order.

Why should that even be an issue? We have stood by such personnel when they explicitly violate the UCMJ, so why would minor ethics violations on orders from the president be so much worse than torturing people on orders from the president?

Following orders really works as a defense in the US.

What's the diplomatic advantage in making this a matter of record? Especially non-public record?

Part of the job of a diplomat is to advise the government of the status, character and tendencies of his host nation in order to facilitate negotiation strategies and so on?

Diplomat's observe their host nation and advise. Knowing that the chaos observed is likely, on the diplomat's view, to continue is an important consideration for the UK government.

Surely, any competent ambassador submits similar reports.

WTF. He must be feeling totally betrayed.

Following orders really works as a defense in the US.

At the police academy, we were taught to follow an order if it violated department protocol, but to notify superiors via the chain-of-command via written memo of such order.

But we were taught that an illegal order should not be followed. Nuremberg was pretty much the justification for that.

Maybe if the police were the ones doing the torturing it would have resulted in prosecution but clearly that does not hold for national intelligence agencies and the military, no matter what they claim. Bush II really put that to the test and we proved that following illegal orders is something we as Americans are OK with.

This is why the separation of Church and State is so very important. People like those described above scare the crap out of me.

The idea that anyone can think that Trump is 'chosen by God' is mind boggling. He has broken several of the Ten Commandments multiple times:

1. That shalt not steal: he has failed to pay contractors.
2. That shalt not lie: over 10,000 proved lies.
3. That shalt not commit adultery: he's cheated multiple times on all 3 wives
4. Thous shalt have no other gods before me: Trump worships himself and money over anything.
5. Thou shalt not bear false witness: He has falsely accused many people of things he knows are not true: Mueller, Obama, Central Park Five, too any to count.

Do people honestly think Evangelical voters don't understand that? They know as well as you or me that Trump couldn't walk past a church without bursting into flames.

They know damn well Trump isn't one of them. What Trump has done is gotten them two seats on the Supreme Court.

Even if Trump doesn't lose, I think its in the network's best interest financially to try to distance themselves from Trump.

After all, advertisers abandoned both Tucker Carleson and Jeanine Pirro over some rather distasteful comments they made in the past, and there's only so many adds for 'My Pillow' they can run in an hour.
