Moderated Trump announces new concentration camps

Anyone who thinks concentration camps have some kind of moral relationship with multiculturalism has lost their damn mind.

"Diversity is our Strength/Makes Us Stronger!" is a very, very flawed thesis that has seldom borne out in reality. Even the USSR, a country founded on multiculturalism, slid into tribalism when the whole thing came crashing down instead of pulling together. Why is it that you seldom see diverse communities coming together when push comes to shove?

And yet, even in Australia and Europe, who were exhorted as the "civilised world", mind you you are seeing similar detention centres for immigrants. Or in both their cases, they also hope that immigrants down en masse.

Well if you want to argue Trump is normal :sdl: then discuss that without wasting thread space arguing on an irrelevant label.

There is an issue with refugees all over the globe. And with global warming and population increases, water shortages, drought, all kinds of reasons people are fleeing their homeland including war, it is worth a discussion.

I would argue the US is responsible for a fair share of the refugee crises and we are only taking in a fraction of what EU countries are taking in. And it's sad. There aren't any terrorists coming across our southern border like Europe is having to deal with.

And it's a big lie told and retold for political gain that those crossing the southern border are gang members and part of drug cartels. Lies that all these evil people are bringing children who aren't their own in order to get them entrance. Just like past lies that immigrants were coming here to pop out anchor babies.

There have been teenagers lured here under false pretenses that end up in labor camps. That needs to be dealt with. There are drug smugglers, they need to be dealt with.

But demonizing families fleeing violence in Central America is wrong and we the people should not be accomplices to this fraud.

Have you never heard of multiple variables?

Where do you think is better off? The United kingdom or Japan? But there's more yummy food in the UK, so that outweighs political dysfunction, crumbling infrastructure, growing inequality and higher crime rates.

Meanwhile Europe is letting in fewer and fewer refugees, instead letting them drown or ensuring they are detained in north Africa or Turkey, often in worse conditions than what happens to immigrants in America. And I don't see much of a "let them all in and we can enjoy ethnic food together!" Movement any time soon.

You literally only have the same 2 or maybe 3 points to make over and over again.

"Some countries failed"

"Immigrants drown"

"Other cultures have different food."

I never knew anyone could hate tacos and kimchi that much.

That's because you lack the judgment imagination to see the direct correlation between tacos and lack of infrastructure investment.

The very act of putting a taco truck on every corner will certainly result in the complete failure of the road system, then we'll be forced to eat at said taco trucks! DO YOU SEE IT?!

You seem to confuse multiculturalism with people of different coloured skins. The UK has never been a mono-cultural state. Scotland, Wales and Ireland have different languages, cultural expressions in art and music, different histories, different legal and religious establishments. If you mean black people or Hispanics or muslims, say it. Don't be coy.

Neither has the U.S. at any time been a mono-cultural state.

We're a nation largely established by people...oh look, fleeing persecution and violent warfare. Every one of the original colonies, and in many cases within each colony, were populated by enclaves of one denomination or another with varying degrees of tolerance on different subjects. Look at Pennsylvania today. There's a Mid-Atlantic culture, an Appalachian culture, and an Upper Midwest culture.

Except the United part in the US is becoming less and less so, as those cultures diverge further and further. Diversity is strongly correlated with less social cohesion, no matter how much Dinnerplate variety is trumpeted.

As for "america was founded by refugees", those same people also scream "AmeriKKKA was founded on stolen land by monsters comparable to the nazis who slaughtered 100 million people for ***** and giggles! AmeriKKKA is WORSE THAN HITLER!" while the former also paints a very... sanitised account of the political machines and Prohibition/Temperance.

And my point about "Muh Dinnerplate variety!" is that people who say "Diversity makes us stronger!" only look at the surface level, and don't really look at how it often doesn't come with unity. I mean, did Syria pull together as one during the Arab Spring? Did Libya? Did the Soviet Union pull together in 1989?

The U.S. is less cohesive than when we were butchering each other over religious differences, considered women inferior in all aspects, and declared a huge swath of the human population as property?

Has it not occurred to you that early American settlers were fleeing intolerable conditions and then engaged in inflicting the same intolerable conditions on others?

Asked and answered.

Nobody anywhere claimed that diversity means free of all troubles. You seem to think we believe diversity is like a cheat code in a computer game.

ETA: Another thing about your examples, I can find a narrative of how one dominant culture within the nation was trying to abusively impose itself on the others.

NWO Sentryman really wants to lock up his straw-liberal in a concentration camp.

No it's more pointing out that things are going to get far worse and much like trump has made people feel nostalgia for Bush, whoever comes next will evoke nostalgia for trump.

And that has what to do with Trump locking up children in concentration camps?
