The Trump Presidency 14

You got to hand it to this guy. He is completely predictable. Regarding the rape charge by writer Jean Carroll, his reaction has been widely reported. First he said he never even met her but the media published a photo of the two of them together [see below]. Okay go to Plan B. He calls Carroll a liar and implies the rape allegation was all about selling her new book. Plus, it couldnm't have happened because she's not the kind of gal Donnie would rape. Really.
President Trump on Monday again denied assaulting a columnist for Elle magazine in the dressing room of a high-end clothing store more than 20 years ago, asserting just hours after she aired her explosive accusation on television that he would not have assaulted her because “she’s not my type.” news link

The obvious question is, what types of women has Trump enjoyed forcing himself on? Hey Donnie, we need details!

:(

Yes, it certainly was terrible when Nixon/Ford/Carter/Reagan/Bush I/Clinton/Bush II/Obama/Trump cancelled the elections.

My favorite "cancelling the elections" conspiracy was that Obama was directing [Only] Black Lives Matter(who he secretly controlled, obviously) to kill a bunch of police officers across the country in the weeks before the election so he could cancel the elections until order was restored.

I don't see one word about canceling elections in my post. Do you?

Trump has used exactly that defense in response to accusations by other women. He doesn't seem to understand the implication that he would rape women who are his type.

I went shopping for a new quartz countertop today. A lot of quartz is imported from China. The saleslady told me that I was lucky that the quartz I'd chosen was in stock from an old shipment because the new stock cost 4X as much due to Trump's China tariffs. She said the tariffs were hitting the company hard because the new prices were so ridiculous that no one was buying. Keep that money that China is paying us in tariffs rolling in, Donnie! It's not hurting US businesses or consumers at all.

I was about to say "Gee, the tariffs couldn't be that high."

But they are.
The additional tariffs on Chinese quartz surfaces will quadruple the final costs to importers. For example, a slab with a customs value of $500 could have a punitive tariff (at a combined antidumping/countervailing rate of 348%) of $1,740, for a total off-the-dock cost of $2,240.

The guy is not normal.
How f’ed in the head does someone have to be to say “number one: she’s not my type”?

The Cruel Paradox at the Heart of E. Jean Carroll’s Allegation Against Trump

It probably wouldn't have made a difference, but I wish she had told this story in 2016 or better yet, when it happened. Now, in an excerpt from a book she's selling, it feels too late to make a difference.

Do I believe it? I don't not believe it. But if it can't be verified, it doesn't really matter what I believe. It's just another in a stack of accusations, none of which can be proven conclusively it seems.

Oh, I didn't realize you meant that Trump would go fascist/authoritarian and then leave office after his second term. I don't think it usually works like that, but OK.
You might not think it works that way, but I'm not surprised. I doubt you see the damage Trump has done so far and I doubt that you can imagine how much damage he will have done given 6 more years.

Six more years of no war with North Korea, no war with Iran, sounds good to me.

We probably don't need six more years of trade war with China, but maybe we do, and anyway that's not the end of the world.

We could probably do with six more years of border enforcement, though I hope he starts cracking down on illegal employers as well as illegal immigrants.

And transgenders can probably get by for another six years without accommodations from the military. It's a voluntary service, after all, not a human right. Certainly the nation doesn't face an existential threat so grave that the lack of transgender soldiers is going to make us less safe.

Six more years of Trump Derangement Syndrome is gonna be a royal pain in the ass, but we survived eight years of ODS and eight years of BDS and eight years of CDS (plus an encore tour!). I have faith we'll survive TDS as well.

Environmental rollbacks are problematic, but most of these are reversing Obama-era executive policies, which can hardly have had enough time to move the needle. If I understand AOC correctly, we only have twelve years left anyway. And that even if China cuts its industrial output in half right now, and the rest of the developing world just stops developing.

Let's see... Am I missing anything?

"Continually being on the brink of a stupid war with the world on tenterhooks and then accidentally tripping over the edge by a gross error of judgement" is nowhere near the same as "no war".

It will be for the USA. There's no investment in internal alternatives, and a deep desire by the GOP NOT to do so. And even if they did, it's probably WAY too expensive now to replace global manufacturers with local. So it's either trade with China and the rest of the world like grown-ups, or turn into a 3rd world despotic rubbish dump.

Not gonna happen. The GOP will NEVER let their favourite sons lose the advantages of slavery-by-another-name.

You agree new recruits should be asked if they plan to transgender while serving? Would be the best way to weed them out, don't you think?

TDS will end when Trump stops being deranged, or he is removed and no longer is of vital importance to the country. (And by Trump Derangement Syndrome, I mean the derangement syndrome that afflicts Trump.)

So let's just all give up and go home, eh? And FYI, China has already significantly reduced its industrial pollution. So if they can do it...

Let's see... Am I missing anything?
Probably.

Bingo.

He's been taking cues from Duterte Harry.

Bolsinaro, shortly BoJo - seems like the ideal personality type to become a country's leader right now is "narcissistic *******".

This all seems like deflection. Australia has some serious human rights problems that it's refusing to solve. Obsessing about economic choices happening on another continent, an ocean away, is not a good look.

"Another continent." Of course, Australia isn't actually a continent. It's a really big island, though. So you've got that going for you. Which is nice.

That's hilarious: You complain about alleged deflection and then you deflect to.....Australia?? What the hell are you even talking about, bro? Your post is totally irrelevant to EVERY. SINGLE. TOPIC. that Norman Alexander brought up.

And then, in your second paragraph: Are you seriously making fun of yourself for referring to Australia as "another continent"??? That's funny as hell!

Seriously. You should make fun of yourself more often. You're worth it!

Really? That's your fantasy?

Gee, I forgot we had all those wars started by Obama. Oh that's right, Obama failed to get us out of Bush's wars. OK, so he got bin Laden, but he didn't close Gitmo. Whoops, that was McConnell's doing.

We probably don't need six more years of trade war with China, but maybe we do, and anyway that's not the end of the world.

Sounds like you are in 7th heaven. Long as they aren't your rights being taken away. And of course, deficits only matter when a Democrat is POTUS.

Norman Alexander is, as I understand it, Australian. That nation's human rights problems are entirely relavant.

Yeah, sure. Da Libruls always mean to imply der Trumpenfuhrer will grow the Chaplin moustache, adopt the Swastika, burn down the Reichst--Capitol building and have his rubber stamp Reichst--Congress 'vote' on an Enabling Act while he's at it.

That straw is getting musty.
