Moderated Trump announces new concentration camps

A regular reminder that immigration control =/= production line murder and extermination through overwork. After all, Eisenhower pursued worse policies with Operation Wetback, but Americans by and large ignored that.

No it seems to be the malicious neglect of basic hygene route they are going to use, quite common in concentration camps. And again no one is saying these are death camps. Nazis started concentration camps in the early thirties but not death camps until 41.

"We were just following orders".

-Germans, circa 1945

Hey that is totally OK, see Bush's torture camps. That is why it is totally BS that the military would refuse illegal orders, we have ones that were and clearly followed all with no consequence(except when people were foolish enough to let pictures of the totally legal acts get out)

Wow, your supply of straw must be massive to create all those strawmen. Certainly nearly every nation has prisons run to varying degrees of human rights standards. They don't all run concentration camps.

Careful you don't hyperextend your elbow when you go to the rally and salute your Trumpenfureher.

Nah this is more like Eisenhower, or John Howard of Australia depending on who you ask.

I am reminded of one Bush II defender on this board who stated that the since the New Orleans citizens in the Superdome in the Katrina aftermath only went without fresh water and food for ‘only a few days’ that Bush & Brownie’s efforts should have been lauded.

Even that, horrible as it was, was different.

For all his faults Bush didn't cause Hurricane Katrina. He didn't cause almost two centuries of piss-poor city planning and flood management. He didn't design a city that was practically built from the ground up to be a worst case urban flooding scenario. He didn't screw up... most of the evacuation plans.

So yeah he botched the response, but he didn't cause the problem. And bad reactions to problems you create and bad reactions to problems you don't create, while both can still be bad, even unforgivably so, are different beasts.

Bush might have walked up to someone on the street with a broken leg, handed them one crutch, and expect a little too much credit for it, but that pales next to Trump walking up to someone on the street, breaking their leg, handing them one crutch, demanding to be praised over it, and taking the first crutch back when he didn't like that the person who's leg he just broke was still complaining, all while pointing at "system" you created (or have zero problem ignoring the rest of the time) as the reason you can't do more.

"BTW it's taken 2 years, 149 days, to go from 'Trump won't round people up' to 'These can't be concentration camps because they aren't as bad as Auschwitz.'" - Dusty Wilson

I'm trying to find a way within the MA to honestly relay my opinion of a person for whom when they are informed children are being kept in cages their response is "Yeah but only for up to three weeks."

I will continue to do so.

Don't play dumb.

What do you think should be done with these people?

- Hold them for processing?
- Send them back?
- Build a luxury hotel with the capacity to house 100,000 new people every month?
- Let them walk in unimpeded?
- ???

This question has been asked repeatedly here. Be the first to come up with an answer. Remember, 95% of the people released into the country never show up to their hearings. They simply remain here in perpetuity. This means we are effectively doing nothing about illegals.

My answer is to kick most of them out as they come in. This would slow the amount of people coming here to a crawl. Problem of overcrowded detention centers solved.

Democrats and Republicans are both responsible for this crisis, and it is a crisis. They are bought and paid for by the $pecial intere$t group$ who want these people to continue to come.

As I've said repeatedly, these people are simply pawns being used by everyone. Only an idiot would think the politicians are doing this out of compassion. No, that's how they sell it to us...by using our compassion. For them it's all politics and greed.

They get us arguing with each other like a bunch of suckers. Look what we are arguing about - people sneaking into our country by the millions! That's one thing our politicians have mastered.

Now, now, now let's not get crazy. I mean they're brown, so they aren't really people.

Hold them for processing?

For a reasonable amount of time in.... conditions that could be mistaken for humane, in most cases will probably be necessary.

Send them back?

I mean... if we decided we aren't going to let them in... sure.

Build a luxury hotel with the capacity to house 100,000 new people every month?

You see this is just mind boggling. We have children held in cages without soap or toothbrushes for months end and your response is "Oh so I guess yu'd rather have them in luxury hotels!"

Sure. With cavier and beef wellington and diamond encrusted tiaras too.

Oh... I'm sorry I thought we were arguing about reality. I see where the disconnect is now.

Yes, in your made up fantasy head delusions you are absolutely correct.

The wave of dirty brown people hitting our border like a tsunami should be mowed down with machine guns.

.

It would be cheaper.

Currently, the US is paying $775 per child per day for detention.

Hurray for the subcontractors.

It would be cheaper just to book all the rooms at the local hotels and feed them all using room service.

775 a day?

Crap I'm in the wrong business. I've got a guest room, I can cram 4 or 5 of the little tykes in there and I've got running water, air conditioning, and Nickelodeon. Hell I'd even given them soap and toothbrushes.

775 x 5. Assume 20 bucks per kid per day for food and toiletries.

Damn I'd be netting over a million a year.

This is less Nazi Germany and more Dwight D. Eisenhower. Still doesn't hold a candle to LBJ burning millions of Vietnamese to death during a futile war in terms of disastrous policy decisions.
