The Trump Presidency 14

The American Revolution was financed largely by French loans, which America refused to pay back because the French had their own revolution, and America said it owed money to the French monarch and not a bunch of dirty revolutionaries.

So we went full hypocrite well before Day 1. Perhaps that's why we're so darn good at it!

Not true. The US attempted to pay back the loans early on but had little money to do so since it did not have the power to tax initially. Because of this, it stopped payments before the French Revolution of 1789. However, in 1789, Congress was given the authority to tax and resumed payments through the early 1790's. The US paid off its debt to France in 1795.

I don't get it. Where does he get this stuff? We've borrowed forever. Probably borrowed on day 1 of 1776.

He gets it out of the same place he gets most of his "facts": his ass.
The US has ALWAYS carried a national debt except for 1835 when huge amounts of federal western lands were sold and the proceeds were used to pay it off. Our national debt under Trump is at its greatest ever thanks to Pres. Bozo's 'great' tax cut. And it's projected to get much worse.

Tell that to Beaumarchais!

So what does everyone think? Is Trump collecting all those import tariffs pretending he isn't taxing the common folk and then he's going to claim the debt went down?

I would be he's dead. Besides, it was never clear whether the funds and goods funneled through Beauchmarchais' shell company for King Louis was a gift or a loan.

I'm sure we can take the man at his word, with his excellent reputation. Those first two wives were already poisoned when he met them!

"You can judge a man's greatness by the number of wives he's had."

Donald J. Drumpf

Nonsense. Being a serial widower has dignity, having multiple living ex-wives is tacky, and conveys the impression that one is unable to tie up loose ends.

But having living ex-wives mean you don't have to be bothered with the actual rearing of the children. You can leave that to the wimmin' folk to concentrate on actual important things like building casinos, creating fake universities, or an airline. Plus, an NDA keeps 'em in line.

The last time the USA had a budget surplus, decreasing the debt, "Crooked Hillary" was first lady. Republican tax cuts for the wealthy have made sure that won't happen again any time soon.

But, but....I thought the Republicans were the party of fiscal responsibility.:boggled::confused:

It’s not clear whether Trump did not hear, internalize or understand the death toll when it was first relayed to him earlier in the day.

Another administration official said that while Trump had received the casualty assessment earlier that day, “he made the call when he internalized the severity of casualties.”

Another bit of evidence for Trump possibly suffering from early signs of dementia. I remarked once that his rambling style of talking reminds me very heavily of what my mother sounds like some days, and she definitely has early symptoms of cognitive decline (diagnosed by a doctor and everything).

And this is another thing that she does - it takes time for details of what we're talking about to filter into her memory. I'll answer the same question a few times, and then, a few minutes later, she'll repeat what I just told her as if she herself had just thought of it. This sounds exactly like what Trump did here.

Personally, I think there's enough evidence for Trump's cognitive abilities to be assessed by professionals. But you know it isn't going to happen.

Few Presidents are judged "great," during their lives or by historians. But Hillary Clinton would have been a competent President, committed to maintaining basic functions of government. She would not have offended our allies and played kissy-face with our enemies. She would have appointed responsible cabinet and sub-cabinet officials who would have performed their duties intelligently. She would not have appointed federal judges selected by a right-wing anti-government club. She would not have demeaned and disparaged federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies. She would not have denied global warming and cut scientific research. She would not have locked up children in cages. She would not be threatening a new Mideast war. Etc., etc., etc.

To defend Trump by demeaning Clinton borders on insane.
If you believed i was defending Trump in any way, shape or form after reading my comments than I'm not sure you actually read my comments. Trump may be the worst President in my lifetime if not in the last 100 years. Point is Hilary is a mediocre candidate. I'm tired of "competent". The fact we're settling for merely "competent" is ridiculous...

"Not Trump" is not satisfactory for me... We're judging against a president that's borderline fascist.

The President is the chief administrator of a vastly complex governmental and political enterprise. "Not Trump" might be the best we can hope for. It would be vastly better than we've got now. If you need somebody to inspire you, join the church of your choice.

Oh but it has happened! Remember that test he passed with flying colors, where the respondent is asked to identify a giraffe (or some other animal), and other stuff a kindergartner might find not so taxing?
